they have already made it by crushing this gen
wi ware is a added value thats all, IMO
Nintendo hasn't crushed anyone, especially not this early on. The 360 is only a couple million units off while the PS3 is storming back after an embarrassing launch.
You really think the Wii has crushed the 360 and PS3? It hasn't. Sure, its selling good and has been for awhile. But one slip and Nintendo can lose it, and they are VERY capable of screwing up and in fact I expect that they will at some point knowing them.
Their success is because of their newfound commitment to the casual crowd. But they need to start listening to their hardcore fans (who got them here in the freaking first place) a bit more. Talking about extra storage is a good start. Now we just need better visuals in the next Nintendo console and better online and they'll be back in the saddle of gaming.
WiiWare has potential, I just hope its realised.
Well, it's not a small amount by any means, but it also doesn't mean that Nintendo is safe. 6 months to a year can change a lot.

Yeah I understand all that.
Some developers are finding Nintendo better to work with than Microsoft in terms of downloadable content so we could see more and more titles. The developers of Eterneity's Child is an example.

Let's just hope that Nitnendo don't think like you do.
That could be said about any of the competitors this year, and with Wii Fit and other parent-pleasing titles on the way, I say it's safe to assume they aren't going anywhere. They could slip, trip, fall, and roll and still be in front of the pack.
WiiWare? I don't really see it changing anything dramatically. I see it as pocket change for developers and Nintendo. Although some titles are genuinely fun, such as Defend Your Castle.

well from the looks of most of the whiny posts from the last year:
"not enuff hardcore titles: boo hoo"
i think they might
They've still released a Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Smash, Kart, and a slew of other titles since the Wii released. To release so many "hardcore" titles this early in a console's life cycle is unheard of and should show that Nintendo hasn't forgotten about the hardcore crowd. However, based on a the relatively lackluster sale of hardcore titles (compared to games like WiiSports, WiiPlay, and WiiFit, etc), it's no wonder they are aiming their resources at capturing the casual market. And yes, these hardcore 1st party titles do seem easier than those of old, but that could either be contributed to the improvement in the control scheme due to the wii remote, or the purposeful adjustment to the game difficultly by developers anticipating the needs of casual games dipping their toes in the hardcore selections. The casual market is much larger and does not have the same competition on home consoles as the hardcore gamer market.
We shouldn't get upset that new customers are entering the market, or that they have different needs than us, or that companies shift resources to handle these needs. The hardcore market does not dictate the market anymore, which is why Wii's and DS's are king this time around.
