well Mr. G & W was a surprise character, just as the Ice Climbers, but wasnt as well liked. but he should still return.
Some people were good with him, while others were bad. I was somewhere in the middle, but he still made a good addition to the character roster IMO.
G & W should return for his uniqueness, plus I am pretty ok with him.

But what if he was taking the space that another character could use? Would you still want him to return then?

Its do-able. But in programming him back into the game it might take the spot of another character and also take up another stage slot.
Don't get me wrong, he was fun. But with the introduction of Assist Trophies, he could easily be one of those as well.

keep him in of course. he was among the original 12, and although Nintendo has failed to release more Earthbound/Mother games outside Japan, causing many ppl to know little to nothing of the series, Earthbound needs more rep in Smash Bros. and when we finally get another character, we get rid of the first? it wouldnt make sense.
But Sakurai was considering Lucas in Melee I believe. Much like the Snake factor.
with both Smash 64 and Melee, there were many characters considered, but left out. and i do realize they are awfully similar, and Ness isnt the easist character to use, but i dont think he needs to go
I agree. Ness should stay... plus I like him more than Lucas anyway (since I've actually played an English version of his game)
But what do you think Sakurai will do? I mean, Mother has had 3 games. So maybe 2 rep isn't out of the question.
Mother 2/Earthbound = Ness
Mother 3 = Lucas
i think both should be in their even though they have no real relation. i mean look at the Fire Emblem series and Marth and Roy. and along with Ness and Lucas i hope to see at least one more charater from the Earthbound/Mother series. preferably Poo.
Yes, but Fire Emblem has had 10 games, with its 11th on its way.

yea, bowser was horrible, but he returned, and yea there were other factors that weant into that but you get the point. and besides "up until now" has been used to refer to things still in the series. so there's still hope.
