"Filed under juicy Halo rumor news, we have information coming from the pages of the latest issue of OXM that tells us that Halo 4 is currently in development, but NOT by Bungie Studios. According to OXM, Halo 4 is currently being developed by non other than Gearbox Software ( Halo PC anyone?) and is being worked on for release as a launch title on the next Xbox console. ZOMG! Funny thing about the rumor is that, earlier this year, Gearbox's head honcho Randy Pitchford mentioned that they were working on a super secret project that is "even bigger" than anything they've ever worked on before. Halo 4 definitely fits that bill."
Very interesting rumour...

Developer change? Never a good sign for a game. But at the same time, maybe they can make the Halo franchise not be overrated... if this comes to pass that is. It's a matter of when with Halo 4 though, because it will happen.
Gearbox made magic with the Blueshift (Half-life) and Counter-Strike additions, but their latest work has been garbage.
If they turn Halo into a good Game rather then the mediocre one it is now, good for them and halo fans. If they make it worse like they probably will, everyone will stick to Halo 3.
I actually fell in love with Halo 3 at one point, it will be interesting to see how Gearbox do on this.
This is either going to go really well, or really badly.. Depends on Gearbox really and yeah if they're latest works are anything to go by i think everyone will be sticking to Halo 3.

I don't really think Halo will become not overrated, at least not until Halo 4 has been out for a while, if thats what they're aiming for.
The same thing happened with TimeSplitters, it changes from Eidos to EA (FTL), well I think thats publisher but whatever.
So do you guys think the Xbox 720 will get another head start like the 360 did?

Exactly, Halo CE>Halo 2>Halo 3. I wouldn't doubt Halo 4 to follow the same pattern if it was made by Bungie again.. at least this gives the franchise a chance at something new.
Probably wouldn't wager any money on it though.
didnt gearbox port halo:ce to the PC? personally that was way better than the console version. i played the PC version longer than ive played all 3 games. one of the most requested maps for halo 2 or 3 was a map in the PC version.
if they are doing it, i dont expect them to deviate from original formula.

I think itll rape. Be bette then Halo 3.
Halo 3 is fun.. soemtimes. Lots of different variants to play. But it doesnt have that intensity of war.
I dont feel like Im fighting sides against the Covenant. I dont even feel like a friendly scrimmage against other Spartans. It feels like typical FPS now.
sad.
Hmm...well. Hopefully, if this rumor is true that is, they won't differ to far away from the Halo series and make it suck. Hopefully they'll make it even better.
Take it slow, they have to make it good again before they can make it better.
I know some people don't like Halo, but I already think it's good.
Now when I say that, I talk of the multiplayer. The single player campaign could use a revamp a-la CoD4. CoD4 has one of the best FPS stories out there, IMO it rivals Half-Life. That's my opinion though, I know lots of you might not agree, but I just found it very intriguing.
Halo needs more....
war.
kind alike how Starship Troopers needed more SciFi
