Game Informer must be craving some Guitar Hero because their June issue is loaded with info on the game. The cover story goes in depth and sheds some light on the new entry to Activision’s top-selling franchise.

The fourth in the main series of Guitar Hero game will follow closely in the footsteps of competitor Rock Band, featuring new instruments besides a guitar, which include a bass, microphone, and a six-piece drum set which includes two cymbals.

Since the recent break up between Gibson and Activision the guitars used in Guitar Hero IV will not be licensed and will have all new original designs. This leads to a new unrevealed guitar feature that will “directly impact the way you play Guitar Hero in the future.”

To even make this new Guitar Hero even more special and unique by adding a “studio” mode where players will have the chance to create their own songs and even share them online with other players through the Guitar Hero Tunes service. The bad news is though is that these custom tracks will be lacking in the vocal department. Adding more customization yet, players will have the opportunity to design their own musicians, album art, and instruments on-screen from scratch.

Moving away from customizing and going on to songs, there has been no song titles announced yet. However, Van Halen, The Eagles, Sublime, and Linkin Park have all been confirmed for the game's track list.

Guitar Hero IV is due out for Wii later on this year so you'll be able to get your rock star fantasy going once more.

You're talking about Guitar Hero: Aerosmith, this is Guitar Hero IV.

Also, the 'make your own music to share with your friends' thing is epic. Yes, we've had level editors and stage creators, but what game actually lets you make your own art?

Oh yeah. I'm getting Guitar Hero IV.

I'm definitely getting this when it comes out. I'm actually not getting Rock Band now, though I've mostly heard good things about it minus how fragile the foot pedal is. The drums just look way better and more durable. I also would love to be able to make my own songs. That and I already have one guitar and I really like the feel of it.
this is getting out of hand.
Awesome, plan on getting this too then. I'm getting Rock Band no matter what and if this is good enough then I'll be getting this too.

OMGZ >_> there are 2.

Now that makes more sense.

Big Grin

There are 3 GH games this year. Yay, franchise spam.

Anyway. I won't be getting this. Also, I hope its old Linkin Park, not new sell-out Linkin Park.

Amen to that. The older the Linkin Park the better.

lol
Linkin Park "sold out"? How is that possible these days? Isn't everyone selling out the minute they hit the big time and tour?

two cymbals.

Damn straight....

a six-piece drum set

not quite..

Well, if you count the bass as a piece of the set then it is, but technically, no it's not.

And some of Linkin Park's new new stuff is pretty good, but that point between the original and their newest stuff was trash and a half.

I've forgotten about Rock Band now. Their music selection wasn't the best aside from a few songs and this will rock Rock Band in every way now.
You have no idea what your saying Nomad. Minutes to Midnight is garbage except for What I've Done.

Hybrid Theory being their best, and Meteora being pretty average but it had more good songs than their recent trash.
Woo, make your own song, it was only matter of time before you were able to do that, I'll get my friend to rent GH IV for his 360 when it releases.

"What I've Done" kicks ass. "Bleed It Out" isn't bad, but does start getting old if I hear it more than a couple times a week. "Given Up" is ok. I haven't heard the rest of the songs from the album though and it's likely because they suck. I believe you that they do, but I'm sticking with "...some of Linkin Park's new new stuff is pretty good...". Just some though. They're still far from their original days.

Anywho, I read the entire GI article and GH4 is sounding to be 2x the game Rock Band tried to be. The ability to play the band leader with guitar, drums, bass or vocals; create-a-rocker and create-a-guitar modes are so extremely detailed that you can pretty much create any musician or guitar you want; the career mode which allows you to skip songs you really don't want to play; and the most b!tch!n thing of all: DRUM SOLOS!!!!! Oh yeah, GH4 is totally kicking RB's ass now.
