Media Molecule's LittleBigPlanet is all about user-created content, but now the developer is taking the concept to the extreme: They've announced a contest for players to design their own SackBoy (or SackGirl) costume, and the three winning entries (one for North America, one for Europe, and one for Japan) will be chosen and made available for download in the game for free.
The contest is pretty simple -- download the blank SackBoy template, which is available on Media Molecule's official contest announcement post. Then spruce it up to your heart's content using any kind of image editing software, or even print it out, hand-draw your design, and scan it back in to your computer. "We're looking for imaginative and interesting ideas with a splash of SackBoy's endearing charm that suit the look and feel of LittleBigPlanet," the post explains. "So it doesn't matter if you're not a Photoshop expert; if your clothing concept is just a great idea, it will still be in with a good chance of winning! Just one piece of advice: Be sure to avoid teeny-tiny details in your design as these may not be visible in-game."
Once you're satisfied with your creation, send the image along with your full name, date of birth, and PlayStation Network ID (if you have one) to playstation_community_support@playstation.sony.com, with "My SackBoy Costume" as the subject line. The contest ends September 30, and additional rules are listed in the post.
Just one word of warning: Media Molecule notes that "due to the unique prizing and rules, this contest is for US residents only," with Europe and Japan announcements forthcoming. Considering each territory will have its own winning entry, we assume this means this current contest is only for American entries, while the forthcoming announcements will be for submissions from the other regions.
