David Cage, director of Heavy Rain, disclosed an interesting tidbit of info back at LGC: the main character of the game, as seen above, can be killed and the player will still be able to continue the game. "I can't really tell you too much about what the story's about or how it's going to work with the characters, all I can tell you that your character -- the main character -- can die, and the story will continue," Cage told VG247. "You can continue to play, without this character, of course."

He was asked to elaborate on whether the player will continue on in a side-story instead. "No, no. It's one big story." We knew Heavy Rain was going to be innovative, but this is something we've yet to see in a big-budget title. We can't wait to see how this exotic mechanic will be utilized when the game comes out next year.

Very interesting idea. I wonder how the main character dying will effect the overall...or if it's actually suppose to happen at some point for shock value.

Sounds very interesting, when I first read this it got me very interested in the game... more so than I already was. Can't wait to pick it up.

I really hope the time and effort is put into this game, because all we've heard thus far makes me believe this game will play like a master storyteller, and achieve more than what other games have done in the past. If all goes well with "Heavy Rain", we may see a new standard for gaming.

All I hope is that this isn't all hype.

Any big name game that has come out recently has been mostly hype. So obviously Heavy Rain will probably suffer from this anyway. But hopefully there'll be more to it than hype, if so it beats out most blockbuster games.
