Today, Sony Computer Entertainment has announced that Life With PlayStation officially arrives worldwide. As stated in the release, it's a "new visual and interactive way to use their PS3 to access news and information from around the world, only possible on the PS3's feature-rich platform." As part of this initial launch, LIVE CHANNEL will be included with the program, and the news and information will be displayed on a "place" and "time" world map interface. It's the live content that will intrigue most; there's cloud imagery (provided by the University of Wisconsin-Madison Space Science and Engineering Center), weather details straight from the Weather Channel, news headlines ripped directly from Google, and very cool live camera images (partially provided by the Earth Television Network) "of nearly 60 cities around the globe." All of this is free, folks, and while it may not sound earth-shattering, we have to admit...LIVE CHANNEL sounds like something we'd toy around with.

To download, simply click on the Folding@Home (you have to have it) and the update downloaded will install Life with Playstation.

So I just updated it... um... I don't get it. Where's the folding @ home stuff? How do I change the "channel" (and presumably see the folding@home stuff)? Why can't I zoom in on the browser windows that open so the text is large enough to actually read? Why did they botch the music options and make it where I HAVE to choose something to listen to and can't just choose random? And what do all of those convoluted options do?

Someone please explain what this is to me, because at this point I think it sucks.

*EDIT* Okay, I figured SOME of it out. Those controls are REALLY retarded. But I still can't zoom in on browser windows, effectively making the whole thing useless as I can't read any articles or anything. GREAT :/
I've been using it a couple of days now. It's ok but nothing too special. It does look really nice though. I mostly use it when I want to just chill out and listen to music. You can play whatever songs on it that you like. I do hate that I can't zoom on it as well. I tried everything but it just wouldn't zoom... Perhaps in a later patch.
Do you have to sign up for folding at home to get this update? Can you disable it afterwards?
You have to install folding at home to install this as they are combined but you don't have to delete it. it won't come on unless you either turn it on or set it to automatically come on when you turn on the system. If you just close it after you are using it then it will be turned off until the next time you open it.
