I might have to get it after I get a Nintendo DS Lite. Looks enjoyable. I'm not a fan of the FinalFantasy series, so I wouldn't know. *sighs*
It looks like an awesome remake... although the biggest thing on the DS that has me wanting to get a DS for is super mario.. the new 1 thats like the old 2d mario cept with cooler power ups and a 3d makeover(ala mega man x on the psp).

This alone is a reason to get the DS. The original was a superb game, even though one could not understand a word ^^, and this one will blow all other RPG's out of the water. The second it hits the US I will be importing!
Ehh just a port. Not getting any new purchases from original players. Pre-FF5 remakes don't have a lot of playability due to their repetitive tactics and story/characters. Atleast that's coming from a veteran of the Final Fantasy arts.

But its not a port, its a remake of the game. FFIII was not in 3d, nor was it even readable to those who did not understand Japanese. The FFIII that was released in the States was FFVI. I personally thought FFIII had the best character system (the jobs, simmilar to FFXI) and its great to finally get the full story in English.
Although with watching the trailer I do have a question. Do those FMV's actually run on the DS? they look pretty awsome

well this remake will probally have the hardcore fans playing to retread the ground they played in the new graphics and cg movies. Curiosity killed the cat.

and I have a feeling that it's gonna have a shorter battery life than mariokart!
I think it'll be awesome, Pre-FF8 games are the best... from 1 to 7 are usually amazing, and 10 as well... so I will be picking this game up the first chance I get it.

You're right in that Final Fantasy III here was FF6 there. The thing is that this is a remake of the REAL FF3 and is supposed to be taking advantage of the DS' WiFi capabilities.
