It was a journey. After all the doom and gloom from basement dwellers, Silent Hill 5 turned out to be one of the better ones, if not a damn showcase of everything I loved about the series.

It just had an amazing scope to it, game felt meaty. Filling. Like the way chunks and blood flew through the air while slamming a rusty pipe through a skinned dog's skull.

(Melee Combat is nothing short of cinematic by the way)

The story... it threw a wicked curveball. It tricks you into thinking it's going to use the same old tricks from the original Silent Hill, what, with following a loved one and all. BAM, something mind-blowing happens instead, and we get a game that separates itself instead of copy-pasting from it's predecessors.

The bottom line is that it stands now, naked and shameless as the beasts that came before it, bringing a new vision of survival horror. The question is, will you face it yourself or hide beneath the cover of naysayers' words?
