When you have been going through some of your old GameCube games, have you ever thought, “This game would be great for motion controls!” Well now Nintendo is taking that idea and trying it out with Play on Wii.
Pikmin will be the second of these titles to be released, and it’ll hit Japan on December 25 of this year for 3,800 yen ($36). After that, Donkey Kong Jungle Beat will come out on December 11. Hopefully if these titles are released here, they will cost slightly less.
Some other titles that have been announced are Mario Tennis, Metroid Prime 1 and 2, Pikmin 2, and Chibi-Robo. It will be interesting to see how Mario Tennis will be different from Wii Sports, and if the first two Prime’s controls will have slight improvements from the controls of Metroid Prime 3.

That's actually sorta bad news. Means instead of developing a new Pikmin Game, they're just re-releasing Pikmin 2.
Hopefully they don't just stop with controls... Metroid would benefit from some better AI and graphics; but that's asking too much.

What makes you think that they aren't working on a new Pikmin as well as re-releasing Pikmin 2?
Of course they're working on it.. but why would the release a new Pikmin near the same time as a re-release of Pikmin 2? It would just kill the re-release's sales.
So maybe that Metroid Prime Collection rumor from a while back could be true?
Rad.
Metroid should not be sold seperately. Thats cheap.
Pikmin 1 and 2 shoudl be sold together.
Lets not forget RE1 WiiMake... yeah a RE1 WiiMake is underway too.
horrible.

I don't know about that. If they released Pikmin 1 and 2 a couple of months before Pikmin 3, I think it would draw a lot more attention to the third installment.
Just to reassure anyone who had doubts:
"It’s not the Pikmin that Mr. Miyamoto referred to, no,” said Nintendo of America sales VP Cammie Dunaway. “Mr. Miyamoto referred to a new Pikmin, as opposed to the classics that are being rereleased on Wii."

I think it would help. I bought all 3 MGS games before MGS4 came out, and I rented MP1 before MP3 came out. Re-releasing the first before helps because people want to catch up on the story.
Like what Nintendo did for Metroid and Super Metroid with MP3's release.
sounds cool, i wonder how they'll do star fox adventures/assault, if they do
Sequels usually increase the sales of previous games. It'd be even to sell them off the back of Pikmin 3 with the first two getting Wii-releases.
Sweet Jesus. I'm so buying Metroid Prime 1 and 2 again with no remorse for sexy Wii controls *drool*
