When Wii Music released in Japan, many expected high sales, as hey, it’s pretty much Wii Sports with music right? Well, looks like the Japanese really aren’t into music, or they just hate Wii Music because the game only sold 50 000 units on it’s first day.
Now, this may seem like a big figure, but compare that to the rest of Nintendo’s big titles and you can see that Japan simply gobbled them up, but not Wii Music, odd.
- Super Mario Galaxy: 130,000 on day one
- Super Smash Bros. Brawl: 500,000 on day one
- Wii Fit: 254,000 in first two days
- Mario Kart Wii: 594,000 in first four days
- Wii Sports: 176,167 in first two days
- Wii Play: 175,297 in first two days
- The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess: 139,011 in first two days
- Wario: Smooth Moves: 63,954 in first two days
There you have it, while Galaxy and Brawl sales are considered rumors (taken from a Japanese industry Bog) the rest are facts. I’m curious to know what is so unappealing about Wii Music?

Well so far reports are saying that the noise maker really isn't that good. So even the Japanese don't seem to have much interest in it. Maybe this will serve as a wake up call for Nintendo.

-DSi
-WiiWare for DS (DSWARE?)
-Mario & Luigi 3
-Punch Out
-Sin and Punishment 2
They were announced at the Nintendo Media Summit so at least we're getting some more hardcore games.
I think they need to make sequals to some of the older titles like Pilot Wings and Kid Icarus and a Pikmin title would work great on the Wii or DS.
Punch-Out!! Wii could suffer from Wii Boxing syndrome. I hope not though. Sin and Punishment 2, yeah that game will probably be good... I haven't tried the first one yet and I don't feel like paying that much for it either. I would rather it not be on rails though. And the DSi and DSWare ones are a given. Mario and Luigi 3... hmm, yeah. I'll give that one a shot as well.
I don't know about those smash bros. figures. If it sold half a million on one day, I would have heard about it.
Why would you have heard about it if it sold 500,000 in one day in Japan? Really... I'm curious.
At the very least, VGChartz has it listed as selling 800,000+ during its first week. The 500,000 in one day seems to be a rumour, but it still sold amazingly better than Wii Music's amusing attempt.
I say give it some time. Casual gamers aren't going to rush out and buy a game the first day it's out; they're not freaks like us.

well, if we get a news update that Wii Music sold 50,000, why wouldn't we get an update saying that smash bros sold 500,000?

There you go...
Maybe you just missed it.
im not suprised. the concept it just aweful
I didn't think the concept was awful. But the execution has been.
Well we still have Wii Sports Resot to look forward too d:
I think next year will be really good for Wii games.
Keep telling yourself that.
Lol, Wii Sports Resort, I think this game shows that Nintendo will have to try a lot harder with their "Wii blah blah" games.
None from Nintendo other than Sin and Punishment 2 that I care about, but there is also The Conduit, Cursed Mountain, MadWorld to name a few from third parties.
The Conduit is what I'm mostly interested in. I don't doubt SAP2 will be good, but on-rails just doesn't really interest me in a retail game unless its of a decent length. MadWorld should be interesting if its not just a waggle-fest. Cursed Mountain... I dunno, looking forward to seeing what becomes of The Calling. And maybe one day seeing the ever sexy Sadness re-emerge.
So you didn't like Star Fox 64 lm-x? Cause that's basically the premise of SAP except for in SAP you're running, not flying.
Madworld will be cool. Tales of Symphonia 2 will be cool. And there's still some cool WiiWare that needs to be released.

The reason that Wii Music didn't sell well is cause they've already moved on in Japan to the Wii2.
you never know, Wii Music could be the next guitar hero.
i have to see more from SAP2, ive never played teh original but the Brawl character looked so cool. why must brawl do that?

I doubt that very much. For once I'll side with GH and RB and say: No.
I looked forward to this game so much since the first time I heard about it but after E3 I was very disappointed and no longer cared about it. As I said before though. It's Rock Band for casuals I suppose. Baby Rock Band?
