While 360 owners are anxiously awaiting the release of the exclusive DLC, PS3 owners have been waiting for Rockstar to bring them something that the 360 owners received on day one: trophies (achievements as they're called on XBL).

Well the wait is finally almost over as Rockstar has announced that the trophies for Grand Theft Auto IV will finally land Monday October 27 via a downloadable patch. It will be the same 51 awards that 360 owners have been collecting since the game's launch.

Another thing confirmed is the rumor of zombies infecting Liberty City on the multiplayer side of the game. Rockstar has confirmed that those who took part in the recent event, "Let Sleeping Rockstars Lie", and successfully killed one of the developers have been infected with a zombie like "virus". Anyone who happens to kill this person will also be infected with the virus. There is no known "cure" at this time and Rockstar has yet to confirm the motive for releasing this "virus" into the game.

This is good news for PS3 owners. Do all new PS3 games include trophies now?

Not in the slightest. I don't understand what's so hard about it. Especially the cross platform games. I mean, how hard would it be to port the code over from the achievements on the 360?

Achievements are just a small line of text and a tiny avatar sized picture.

Wow. Good work, buddy. I feel so much more informed now. Time to go buy a Datel Wiimote because its TOTALLY WIRELESS!

This is more of an extension of Rooster's sarcasm. Trophies = achievements is about as obvious as the Datel Wiimote having no wires, yet it feels the need to announce it anyway.

In the future, probably early 2009, the games will be required to have trophy support. I'm not sure I want to sit through this game again though just for the trophies. Especially since I just picked up Rock Band 2 and will be getting LBP this weekend along with Motorstorm 2 and GH4 when they arrive.

I just hope they add Trophies to MGS4. And MGO.

Yeah, I'm hoping they add them to MGS4 as well. I almost tried playing GTA4 again for the trophies today but I only played for about five minutes and got bored of it again. I got a trophy in that time though.

D/l'd. Bad news, it's not retroactive and you have to start a new game to earn trophies. Good news for me was I wasn't very far in the game. Earned my first trophies in seconds.

Are there any plans for trophies in Guitar Hero games or Rock Band?

RockBand 2 has trophies but I don't think that there is any plan for a patch for the previous RockBand or any of the Guitar Hero games.

Wow, apparently I should check back on some games. Last night I finally updated Pixeljunk Monsterss and Pain. Didn't realize those had trophies.

I've still yet to update my PixelJunk Monsters. There are just way too many games for me to play at once right now. RockBand 2 has been taking up most of my playing time.
