Does anyone know when the LBP US servers will be up and running, and how do I download the costumes that you get when buying the game the first week it's out?
BTW the game totally rocks!!! It's a must buy for anyone who has a PS3, and the level maker is amazing.
I don't think they've released the week 1 bonuses yet. Maybe tomorrow when the store gets updated, or when it drops in Europe.
I haven't been able to log into PSN let alone the LBP US servers since 5pm yesterday. I haven't been able to log in since downloading the LBP update.

Hopefully PSN is fixed by the time I get home.
Going through the level maker tutorials has become tedious. I had to do it twice on the beta. lol Oh well, 100%'d the first set of stages.
I like how thorough the tutorials are. Do you like the game overall Harmonica?
I had access to the beta, so I put in quite a bit of time with that. I have a few issues with the game, but overall I really like it. I probably would not have bought it if not for the in depth create mode and being able to play other peoples stages online, but that's like saying I wouldn't buy Call of Duty 4 if not for the online multiplayer... that's the selling point.
My biggest gripe so far is Sackboy's physics (he's way too floaty for my liking). I also don't care for how they switch planes at times, and if anyone designs levels for the love of god please don't put stairsteps in without cutting reliefs at the corners. The game moves slow enough without having to take each of 30 steps to climb a hill/mountain. I find a lot of times I'll get sackboy stuck somewhere and the only way to get free is to kill him with the suicide function. I guess the moral of that is always leave a place for sackboy to land, and avoid "V" shapes as much as possible.
Some of the user stages from the beta are fantastic. The guy who made the stage called "World of Colour" or color is great. When the servers get back up, play that stage and <3 the user if you like it. He's done a lot of good stuff (God of War is another by him). The guy who did the Green Hill Zones is also pretty good in a rough way. If you want to make fantastic stages like that, plan on putting in quite a few hours on each stage (8-12 hours one person estimated). Creating stuff is fun, but if you don't plan it well you'll likely get garbage. I enjoyed just playing around with components and seeing what I'm able to do.. using it more like a physics engine than a level building (see my craptacular level called "oh noes" and you'll see what I mean).
Right now I'm trying to collect as much stuff as I can in the "story" mode first time through, and then I'll probably go back to the create mode. I plan on eventually mapping out a decent level, but I have yet to pick a theme. I have so many ideas floating around in my head and so little time to create them all.
I really liked the tutorials the first time through, kinda like puzzle solving if you don't pay much attention to the video. Third time through they became tedious, but I'm likely one of only a handful of people who's been through them 3 times. Luckily you can breaze through them in less than 1/2 hour, and the rest can be skipped.
If platforming games, building platform stages, or collecting loads of bonuses (items, materials, costumes, stickers, trophies, etc., etc., etc.) sounds appealing and you are not restricted to blood and guts games, then this game is a must buy.
I've heard that sackboy's floaty physics will be "fixed" in an upcoming update to the game

Though I have to admit that I haven't had much issue with them as of yet.
I don't want them to be fixed, I want control over them. Some people may prefer that style; I prefer a little more mass/gravity as well as speed. I'd also love to be able to tweak jump height to some degree, but all these modifications are suggestions for create mode only. I wouldn't want the option to cheat my way through their levels.

I've heard the same rumor. I haven't had a chance to actually PLAY my copy yet, but from videos I've seen he looks way too floaty for my liking, and since this game looks so effing sweet, I hope that this rumor is true
Also, I wanna know about the astronaut/1st week shirt costumes too... how are we gonna DL them? Is it in game or just from the PS Store?
While we're on that, anyone know how the Old Snake and Sephiroth costumes are gonna be made available? (Do we have to pay for them? uhh
)
Speculation:
I'm guessing Sackboy's physics never change. If they do, it will likely be an option in the rumored sequel.
Not sure on the DLC, don't think anyone knows outside of MM. I would say they do it in game, but they don't have anything in game to do so. I guess MM could set something up to where you message someone and they send you the attached files. If they do it through the store I'm not sure how they can stop everyone from downloading it (whether they own the game or not).
Unless they give away the old snake and sephiroth costumes with another game, I fully expect they will charge for them via PS store.

The servers were back online at 4:30.
And to answer the question about the spacesuit, it will be downloadable via the PS store. Check the news section on the left planet. Probably won't be up until the Thursday update.
Good news/bad news:
Bad news: Amazon forgot my LBP mini guide, and they aren't able to send me a replacement.
Good news: Amazon said they'll refund me 20% of the purchase price (which is close enough to buy the 300 page brady games guide), AND refund me the shipping costs since they didn't deliver me the game by the 21st (delay be damned).
Now that's customer service!
What I had heard was that they would release a patch to fix a problem with the shifting between planes. The controls are a bit floaty but as Harmonica said, that is part of how the game is meant to be with the physics. I really hate when I switch planes accidentally by jumping sometimes.
So amazon neglected to say that the free bonus mini guide would be in PDF format and emailed to me after receiving the game. That's pretty lame.

What's even more lame is it's only 17 pages.
Either way, if anyone wants a copy of this, I'm not opposed to forwarding it on. PM me with your email address if interested. It's a 5 MB file.
i got that guide in an email too. i didnt even know that was part of the preorder bonus.
here it is if anyone wants it:
LBP mini-guide - 5MB
You are better than I. I wasn't able to attach the file :/
Did you get the $10 amazon gift card yet?
no. i think we get that in another email 10 days after the game's been shipped to us. im gonna use it to buy fallout 3.
I'm still debating on whether or not I should buy the player's guide. The create section didn't look all that useful (just a bunch of examples, most of which are pretty straight forward), and I'd feel dirty using it to 100% the game. If the guide is still under $14 on amazon when I get the gift card maybe I'll pick it up.
Are the servers back down? I can log in to the PSN but I haven't been able to connect to the LBP servers at all today

FYI... if you see them online they are live in Japan and other parts. Unfortunately they do not work on the US game. I tried d/l'ed them from my Japan account but couldn't get them to come up in the game.
Oh well, patience I guess.
