Well it depends how much of a main character she was up until that point.
i think she may also have been kidnapped? maybe?
For some reason, I think Ilia is a descendant (sp?) of Saria from OoT... I mean, Nintendo stated that TP tkaes place many decades after that game, and on one site I found Ilia's Theme Song. Most of it is Saria's Song. Maybe she's connected to Zelda, too...
i just realized something. in Wind Waker's prologue (sp?) it says that one day evil came to Hyrule and the Hero of Time didn't show up. i'm kind of thinking that Link gets trapped in the Twilight realm or something during TP and thus cannot save Hyrule from Ganon. this would fit into the time line of Zelda series and explain some things too. good idea? anyone? anyone? Bueller? Bueller?
