On Wednesday, Sega will be conducting a free, open beta of PSU for Xbox 360 via Xbox Live. Players can literally download the entire game, though you must have XBL Gold Service to participate, without forking over a dime and play for a week. The beta period will come to an end on October 18th.
The game will only be available for download October 11th and 12th, however, so make sure to take advantage of Sega's offer while it's there.

as much as i liked PSO on the dreamcast, im gonna pass. i dont want to get sucked into a time consuming MMO game again.

Anyone who plays it... give us a low down on how good it is.
it's a cool game. gameplay is identical to PSO(dreamcast). it's just a prettier game with a crapload more menus. you can customize your charater a whole lot more and after you earn a good amount of money, you can buy other (more rare)outfits for it. it's all about getting that certain rare weapon/armor/clothes...just like PSO. seriously, thats the only incentive for playing online.
not sure if i mentioned it already on another thread, but the single player portion is supposed to be 40 hrs. long and nothing like the multiplayer game. so it's kinda like 1.5 games in one. anyway, i couldnt get past some monsters cuz my party consisted of retards who dont try to dodge the enemy's attacks ffs. and with that said, the nostalgia of playing a prettier PSO wore out pretty quickly. i never had any intention in buying it, and after playing it, it reaffirmed my decision.
As greaser said, it's just like PSO, with only better graphics.
Nothing worth paying for, and I'm sure the single player will be like multiplayer, only alone.
