this game will own. And it looks much more entertaining than halo. I was never a fan of xbox360 games but they are coming out with some quality entertainment this xmas and in 2007.

Emergence Day is here!
That's right, last night I picked up my reserved copy of Gears of War and was BLOWN away!
Graphics, sound and gameplay are top notch. This is easily the most tactical shooter on the market (at present) and playing either the campaign in co-op with a friend or going multiplayer will always be intense.
My one complaint: too much profanity. I just don't see the need for it.

I am still in doubt of buying this game, on the review of various sites they say the campaign is EXTREMELY short (bout 7 hours or less), and i am seriously starting to hate that form games. On the other hand they say that every minute of if is worth it and the graphics are the best so far. They also sayed the Multiplayer is limited, but very fun with the few limited options. They also say a problem with the A button.
I am fearing a overhype of this game and thats the reason it got such good ratings in sites. I just do not see how it got such a good score with these bad things about the game. Does everything it does very good truly overshadow the bad parts?

if youre doubtful, then dont buy it. not every game is perfect. halo2 was nowhere near perfect. that game really had some serious issues that were later patched up, but it still got rave reviews.

i'd be really happy if you can get me some personal opinion of this game when you get it graser lee. And notethat I love online multiplayer. i remmember when i was doubtful of buying Starfox: Adventures because it was underscored and underhyped, but the game turned out to be actually very good, against what other people might have against that game and the fact that its a step behind the N64 version when it comes down to airwing fights but other than that it was good. So being doubtful doesnt really mean you wont like the game ofcourse.
looking forward to your opinion...or i might get COD 3 since i hear that has great MP

I got it and played it and beat it in 2 days. 5 huors the first day and 6 the second. Few games can distract me from life like that. Not only is the campaign excellant, but so is the multiplayer, and I'm not usually one for multiplayer. Everyone with a pulse must get this game.
EDIT: I almost forgot to mention the gorgeous graphics, which, bar none, are the best I've ever seen in a game. Ever.

I knew the multiplayer would be awesome, but the campaign was amazing...at least it is so far...i still got 2 beat the last act but i must say the chainsaw is amazing on multiplayer

Woot going out to get it right now. I made my choice to go buy GoW, and may be CoD 3 later. note that i probably wont be playing MP because the wii comes out next week, ill be pl,aying MP after i calmly, and completely beat TP which should take quite a while.

I heard that the campaign of CoD3 is majorly disappointing. But I heard the multiplayer was just as good as last.

True, multiplayer is limited, with only 3 game types, and its still 4 on 4.
Warzone (think team deathmatch)
Execution (warzone, but close kills required to win)

Matches are extremely fast, often ending in less than 5 minutes. But seriously, if you communicate with your team you can have a major amount of fun running tactics with your teammates.
I haven't beaten campaign yet, just FYI.
Also, count on additional multiplayer maps becoming available (possibly around the holidays, but unlikely), as there are only 10 maps at present.
And yes, its worth every penny.

I know I'm a little late with this one, but this is the game that persuaded me to get a 360, and I must say, I'm glad I did.
I've been playing this game non-stop. I've never been a fan of FPS games, but this one takes the cake by far!

I was reading the review for Battlestations Midway on IGN today and they made a Gears reference. It refered to the fact that we are now in a post GOW era and all games are graphically held to that higher standard. This also resulted in a lower review for Battlestations as a result.
