Anyone read this great manga series? I've only gotten to book 4 so far, but I'm hooked. The detective work in this plot is so intricate and elaborate. it's such an interesting manga.

Here's the basic plot:

A Shinigami (Grim Reaper of a Sort) drops a notebook onto Earth that has the power to kill anyone whose name is written in it. Well, a genius high school kid finds the book and discovers the powers of the book. He begin's writing hundreds of people's names in it. Once the person's name is written they have 40 seconds to live then they will die of a heart attack. There are more rules to the "Death Note" though. The person who writes in the book has to have the victim''s real name and a visual picture of that person's face in order for the murder to go right. Also, if a detailed description of how the person dies is written within 6 minutes of writing the name then that person will die in that exact way.

The story thickens as a investigation tries to bring down the high school student, by hiring one of the smartest investigators in the world.

Shinigami is japanese for God of Death. I'm a Shinigami!

thanks, i made my stuff. and this board is kinda small, shaken off the n00b title will be hard when there arent many things to talk about except the wii

I've never heard of this manga. I don't really read much manga, let alone any.

Sounds quite interesting, though.

Yeah this isn't that big of a board, and for it's member count isn't anywhere as active as it should be. There ain't much of a n00b title given to anyone because most of the members are kids--therefore n00bs inherently. But if you show that you know atleast something worthwhile you can be a heavy hand in dealing with these toddlers. 8)

I read the preview in Shonen Jump. I wasn't into it personally.

I've seen the anime but I don't really read much Manga cause here it's mostly in Thai or Japanese.
