Hey I was just wondering if an ethernet cable used for a PS2 for online play can be used to connect to the internet with the Wii.. or do you need to have a wireless router/internet connection. I've just heard the Wii can use an ethernet cable to connect to the internet, but would i have to buy a special one specifically for the Wii?
Any CAT5 ethernet cable will work. So as long as the PS2 didn't need a special ethernet cable the one you have now should work fine.
Yeah, as long as it's any CAT5 and not a CAT6(Cross-over) like the Xbox can use for system-link then you should be fine.
Don't you need a seperate accessory to connect the Wii using a cable?

I thought there was an ethernet port on the back? If there isn't then they're losing 80% of their broadband-accesable customers.
Hehehe... Fortunately, I have Wi-Fi in both places I live. I can't lose!

Looking through pictures, I can't find one. Also, I thought I read something recently about an accessory to use a standard ethernet cable.
A wireless access point will probably be cheaper than the accessory and a cable though. IMO better to include WiFi built in and push for WAPs than give us an ethernet plug and push to sell us $99 WiFi cards.
Don't forget the $40 USB accessory for the DS that lets it connect through a computer. Would not suprise me if it worked for the Wii also.
You may use any ehternet cable that is Cat5 Cat5e Cat6 Cat7
And you will definatley be able to use a Patch cable, Cross-overs won't give you difficulty in a new(after 2002) router
You will also need the wii's ethernet adapter
