Snake is more than enough for third-party characters, plus he was on the NES back in the day anyway. So he is a part of Nintendo in a way + Sakurai and Kojima are good friends (thats the primary reason Snake is in)
he was also on the GCN game. if the guy wasnt friends with Sakurai then Snake would have never entered the series.
Yep and then there would be no rumours about other third party characters.
So Snake's appearance in SSBB is like a double edged sword.

I agree - too many third party characters sort of spoils the prestige of a nintendo only game. I think one 3rd party characther per sequel is enough otherwise we`ll soon be playing super smash halo.
They should focus on what Nintendo stars they'll be putting in the game before even thinking about 3rd party.
Nintendo stars should get priority.

A nintendo sports amanglam (from the original Baseball, Ice Hockey, Tennis, etc NES games) - each move turns your 8bit character into a different sport. I just posted this on another thread, but it got me thinking about another one...v
How about Mii. think about it, the new character screen comes up, and it says "Presenting, a new challenger: You!"
It would be another integration of the Miis, and allows you to pick any of your created Miis. They could use WiiSports/WiiPlay items for moves, or perhaps just give them a really hilarious set of really commonplace items/actions--to really hit home the idea of it being the average joe, you.
For example, start with their wii plaza actions. Take the conversation bubbles, the sneezing, and the snoring they do there and make them attacks. Then add everyday actions such as maybe picking up a cell phone, slinging a bookbag/purse or handing money, using a pen, mouse, belt, rubber band, stapler, paper airplane, fork... or even just the wiimote! The possibilities are endless, and could be really funny if executed well.
Or really stupid. But Sakurai could make it work, i'm sure.
I see some people already mentioned the inclusion of a Mii... but my suggestion still stands.
It would be fun to see something like Kid Chameleon (or other random one-off, but much loved SEGA character) on there too, but highly unlikely. It'd just be fun to use those different suits he had in the game.

I'm sorry that I have to say this, just gonna put it out there, I think that it is annoying that all of these people are requesting characters like Cloud Strife and Squall. They are not 3rd party characters!!
As for my character hopes, I'm rooting for, believe it or not, Baby Bowser. I am not a huge fan of him, but I believe that he could have an amazing move set. Maybe have a Zelda/Sheik-like transformation, where he morphs into Shadow Mario. Use the E-Gadd paintbrush to teleport, etc. But that's just me.
