seeing that there are only a handful of characters that qualify for Smash Bros. i'm not too worried.

Ha, says you. I'm not one for putting Anakin Skywalker or Darth Vader in the game (yes, I beheld a horrible character mock-up which included the two...), but there are an unlimited amount of characters which could be included, and I want included. Like this Ike for example, last person anyone would have expected, it could be so with tons of other Nintendo franchises. There are definitely more than "a handful" of characters which would qualify for this game.
Ike was so not a surprise. The Fire Emblem level had the flags from Ike's game.
Hence Ike =/= a surprise.

nope. 30 characters excluding past and newcoming characters.
There is plenty from any and every Nintendo franchise. Any character can easily be given a move set. So there's way more possibilities.

Actually the flags from Daein castle didn't match the one's on the FE stage, that rumor was debunked long ago. People thought that the flags were actually from Dolua Castle (Marth's stage), and that the castle itself, as well as the background matched that of the castle in FE1 and FE3.

No, he was ONE of the main characters and Lords in the most recent FE game. I'd actually give the main character title to Micaiyah while Ike was more of a 'omfg he came back!' main character. Basically he was a main character that supported the MAIN character. =)

Anyway, this new update gives me even more hope for Ridley. I mean storyline? Villains? Samus villain = Ridley.
