We all know that the Wii controller has the potential to seriously disrupt the gaming industry and effect how we play games for years to come. Some, like myself, worry about the Wii's staying power and whether or not it will continue to put out hits that will be massive enough to keep it competitive with MS and Sony (yes, I know Nintendo has stated it isn't in direct competition with either, but still).
So here's what I'm thinking: I know it won't make any difference, but as a diversion for the remaining days until the Wii launches, why don't we post ideas that could, in our own opinion, be great games for the Wii (at least, initially). I'm pretty sure there's a similar thread out there already, I just couldn't find it in the little time I have before work.
So here's mine:
Captain America: Dawn of the Shield (name subject to change)
Concept: Play as the captain from his beginnings win WWII and through more modern adventures as the leader of the Avengers/Ultimates.
Play style: Use Call of Duty 1st person style camera in WWII. The nunchuck could control movement and the wiimote could control targeting and firing. Once you get your shield, it could also control shield throws, while a button on the nunchuck could control blocks. Once in the modern era it could turn to 3rd person (in theory), allowing for target lock-on for both guns and shield combat.
(Alternatively, this could be 3rd person, since Captain America is big on hand to hand combat, but in the Ultimates comics he DOES use guns, so the 1st person aspect could work).
Include a rpg-like level-up system, allowing for customization in things like throwing speed, range and damage, running speed, strength, less recoil with gunfire, etc.
You would play through WWII until cap is frozen in ice, then be thawed out and run a solo adventure for S.H.I. E.L.D. or have some NPC fun with 1 or two avengers (personally, I prefer the idea of a solo game).
Unlockables: the WWII outfit/shield, US Agent outfit, the Classic outfit.
