I think is more that girls don't want to welcome themselves to a bunch of guys over the internet who might be 40 years old, start acting like idiots to try to get attention from them, even though they live 20 000 miles away from them even though they don't know how the other looks >.>
I've met a bunch of 40 yr olds from over the internet, and they're all cool dudes ^^ I talk a lot freer online, cause it's a way for people to know more about your personality rather than basing their opinions on looks.
Not surprisingly, I was the only girl in line.
I'm a big Wii supporter and I see it climbing to the top by the end of next year. There are too many girl closet-gamers out there.
Welcome, fellow female gamer, to the forums! I was the same way...only female waiting on line. But I made a few friends, so it was all good. Having guys around to watch out for you when you're putting on an extra pair of pants actually comes in handy ~.-
And I agree - too many girls don't admit to gaming for one reason or another. We should throw a Coming Out party and make them all show their faces to everyone out here.

I read somewhere that about 30% of RPG (or MMORPG, I forget) gamers are female.
I'll never forget looking at a gaming magazine that had some info on Dragonball Z back in 2000 (I was a freshman in college), when two probably high school age girls walked by and said in a very distinct and audible tone "players guides are for losers". It dawned on me a few seconds later they were referring to me. The funny thing was, I wasn't reading a players guide, it was a standard mag. And it wasn't even about gaming, but something far "worse" in terms of public acceptence. lol. I busted up laughing when I put all this together some 10-15 seconds later. Another note of point: they were purchasing Final Fantasy Tactics, I remember it all clear as day.
I have a funky memory like that. I can remember events from pretty much every year in gradeschool and preschool/kindergarten, as well as just completely odd random stuff from my before school childhood. Even non-exciting fairly mundane stuff from as far back as 2. (If you can't tell, I my brain drifts in and out sometimes).

That's quite a hefty percentage. Certainly higher than what I would have thought. But I can vouch for it being correct as 99.9% of all my games are of the RPG variety. Cute graphics and good (albeit cliched) plots is where my money goes. lol
Oh, and those girls sound like they were being real jerks. I own a few guides myself and find them to be quite informative and helpful when I need to use them. BTW, just what kind of magazine were you reading? *arches eyebrow*
