hey i have a question. IGN reports that the Legend of Zelda :Twilight Princess for the Wii will run in 16:9. Is this the case with or without the component cables? And if not, will it be in 16:9 aspect ratio on 4:3 standard tvs?
16:9 is widescreen, and 4:3 is full screen. This has nothing to do with component/composite cables. If you have a widescreen tv, then it can run in 16:9. Otherwise, you'll just have to settle with 4:3.
K. Wanted to know if letterboxing would occur on a standard definition to keep the aspect ratio in 16:9?
It doesn't happen with other systems where you can choose between wide or full, so I doubt you'll see letter boxing with TP.
I've used 16:9 on a 4:3 TV and it works just fine.
it works the exact same way as the progressive scan mode on the Gamecube.

The EXACT same way. I was just playing WW in progressive scan - was 16:9, from the gamecube component cables. Gave a pretty good approximation for how TP is going to look, graphics wise (with obvious differences in art direction). As long as you aren't sitting right on top of your tv, it looks really nice. If you have a 4:3 TV, TP will look just as good as PS3 games pixel-wise. Polygon counts would be different, but they'd be the same resolution.
so then TP will automatically fit to your tv's ratio? There won't be an option to change it then?

u wont have to change it because you'll enter ur tv's ratio in the wii settings. not individual game settings
