i realy wwanted this game when i saw it on e3
then i saw a couple reviews now im starting to not want to buy it
has any one got it and if so is it any good
and gamespot gave it a 5.5/10
i have red steel. and personally, i really enjoy it. i'm about 16.00% done with the game, according to one of the loading type screens and i find it very fun. i've spent about an equal time playing this and Excite Truck, and i really like them both.
andy Brown...why isnt Zelda on your list of My Wii????
the controls work fine, if that's what you're worried about. after about 5 or 10 min they become very intuitive. i'm about 30% into the game and i'm enjoying it immensely. i'd recommend it. oh... and the sword play is pretty awesome.
I'm sorry, but i never was a huge zelda fan. I know, everyone here probably hates me, but i just never got into it. I am however considering giving it a go with Twilight Princess, just don't have the money right now to get another game.
yes, the controls are pretty cool. and the sword fighting might be my favorite part of the whole game.
Well I can tell you that you wont be disappointed...my wife has never played a Zelda game and now...like right now...she is playing Zelda:TP (which oddly enough is Zelda: Toilet Paper in my mind)...anywho, Get it when you get the chance. Im sure after Christmas the price might be lower, especially if you get a slightly used, someone beat the game version of it. It will not upset you.
I have Red Steel, but I just have been so engrossed with Z:TP...is it really that good? IGN gave it a 6, Gamespot a 5.5 and then I read Nintendo Power and it got a 8 or something...and NP gave Medal of Honor a 6 or lower, and that was complete opposite of the other sites I mentioned.
Oh well, to each his own. Im sure I will like it once I pull myself away from Zelda and bowling...heh...
later dude.
I dont pay much attn to what reviewers say, i still buy the games i want and give it my own review, im diggin redsteel, my only beef is the cut scenes and the stiff arm.
the only real way around the stiff arm would be to have some sort of sensor reader on your elbow...doubt we will ever see that...but then again the developers could have put some sort of closer/further from the sensor detection into the code...like if z<=distance then gun.play.animation-close to body or if z>=distance then gun.play.animation-extend arm out.
I don't own Red Steel (or a Wii... yet :-\), but I was able to play it for a couple hours yesterday, and I can't say that I was REALLY impressed. It's definitely got a cool visual style to it (except for the lame comic book cutscenes), and aiming with the Wii Remote is intuitive and fun. My main problem, being an FPS fan, is the turning speed and the bounding box setup.
I think it would've been MUCH better if they allowed for mouse-like control with the Wii Remote, or at least included an option for it. The way the game is configured now makes for much slower gameplay than I was hoping for. If someone's shooting at my back, I want to be able to turn around quickly and pick them off! I don't want to casually turn around and give them more time to get in a deadly shot!
Overall, what I played of Red Steel was fun, but frustrating at times. I don't plan on buying it, but I'll definitely rent it.
On XPLAY last night G4 gave Red Steel a 3 out of 5

i didn't really mind the turning speed. besides, you can change the sensitivity of the wiimote in the game menu. as long as you straife while turning, it's not a big issue.
i do wish you could run, though. and skip thru the cut scenes, which i enjoy, but not when i'm seeing them for the second or third time. i don't really understand why people would have an issue against the scenes themselves... considering it is a story driven fps.
yeah, i definitely wish you could skip the cut scenes. if there is a long one right after i complete a mission, i feel bad knowing that i have to watch the whole scene just to go back to the Wii Menu, and also knowing i'll have to watch the whole scene again before i plan on playing the next level.
Yeah, red steel's really fun. Like gwelymernans said, the controls are pretty intuitive. The graphics aren't very good, but who cares, really?
OH. And it's pretty obnoxious you can't skip cutscenes. Gah.
Red Steel is probably one of my favorite fps games right now. the controls are easy to get used to. the only thing that bugs me is zooming but you rarely ever have to anyway so it all works out. i would defininatly get the game

I don't have an issue against the scenes themselves, I just don't like the art style at all... I think the comic style clashes with the other graphics in the game.

i can see that. i like them, but it's very understandable if that's your reasoning. they kind of remind me of the cut scenes from max payne.
Well actually, from I've seen of the cut scenes, I like the style and its probably one of the positive things I see in this game. I think it goes with the idea quite well.
It's a great style, but badly done. Looks like bad flash. Especially the "CRASH" part, after you sword-fight with the driver. Oh god, it was bad.
Are the cutscenes really THAT bad, like worse than Resident Evil 1?
LOL, it's not that the cut scenes look like they belong on the N64 or Playstation... it's just that they contain almost NO animation, they're made to look comic-book style. Some people like this, but I personally think that the style doesn't fit in with the rest of the game. You've gotta see some of them yourself to decide.
