I will judge when I pick up my copy in 24 hours.
To stand a chance to at least equal OoT the game must be able to grab my interest from the word go.
*dreams of OoT's amazing introduction*
And no, don't tell me how TP starts.
is this news? i like it, but the boses are a bit easy
Okay, I'm 10 hours in and I still give Ocarina the edge due to originality.
I just thought of this. It's (almost) not possible to compare these games. They were released at different times, for systems which are 2 generations apart. If Twilight Princess were to be released for the N64, even with N64 graphics, critics would have put it miles ahead of OoT. For it's time OoT had some great 3D visuals. TP looks better than OoT but it was criticized for graphics that weren't up to par with the new standards that were possible with Wii.
So looking at a site like Gamerankings isn't the best way of comparing the two. In my opinion TP is better than OoT but there is one thing that Twilight Princess is really lacking in comparision to OoT, MM, and WW. That's interaction with other NPCs.
If you havn't played the game, or havn't got up to the Twilight then there are possible spoilers below
Spoiler: (hover to reveal the text)
The world is huge but since everyone has been turned in spirits you have really no one to talk to. Sounds pathetic I know, but it was always cool to be able to go around Hyrule and be able to interact with others.
That's not really a huge thing but it's just like the gripe about the music. It's not a huge factor to me but it's still noticeable.
meh its ok but its like what i expected
I like Ocarina of Time because I still play it today but the reason why its so good because the graphics were excellent for a N64 game the Gameplay works well and the story was very interesting...Puzzles too...Zelda introduces puzzle with action to people who had never tried it...its fun and addictive
I HATE ZELDA!!
GO METROID!
HOW DO U GO FROM A GOOMBA TO A PIRAHNNA PLANT? I WANT TO BE SOMETHING ELSE!
Okay for starters. Please be more constructive than "I HATE ZELDA"... why do you hate it? But I understand your love for Metroid, although why do you think its superior?
Also to answer your second post, the rankings are determined by post count. We have a thread in "Website Discussion" where we talk about the ranks.
I think that I'll go play OoT until I get my Wii.

Concerning the lack of an orchestrated soundtrack... is it just me, or weren't there MANY reports (from several months ago) that "confirmed" that Twilight Princess would have a fully orchestrated score? I could SWEAR that I read that in a number of articles on IGN and elsewhere... oh well. I think that it's especially lame that they still stuck with a MIDI soundtrack when they had shown promos for Twilight Princess with that beautiful orchestrated Zelda tune. They taunt us. :-P
Absolutely everything else about the game still looks amazing though, I can't wait to get my hands on it!!
the MIDI sound tracks didnt sound that bad really. like hyrule feild theme pretty much sounded orchastrated, and sounded great just like all the other hyrule themes. has anyone else noticed all the hyrule themes pretty much sound same kinda?
Yeah everything sounds like it's been recycled from OoT. And making the bosses too easy also hurts the game.
But remember that these games are generations apart so it's very hard to compare them.
True, but seems a lot of people seem to want to compare them. OOT wins.
Same thing IMO. Twilight Princess has such a great storyline but it just fails in telling that story. It's flashbacks and unexplained things such as why Link is a wolf. And the bosses are really really really easy. It makes me sad because I've only died once in the entire game and that was early on in the game when I had only 3 hearts.
And is it just me or does TP feel more straight forward and sort of "on-rails" in a way. Everything seems very linear. Hyrule is huge but the exploration just isn't the same now as it was in OoT.
mhmm... for me personally Twillight Proncess is much cooler than OoT... kk.
The bosses are easy... but... whats the problem? you like to die? And I don't know it exactly... but... all people I've met that said the storyline isn't that great, just all rushed through one of the best games ever... congratulations to all of them...
The story is great, better than OoT, but it just isn't told/presented as well in TP. And dying is part of any adventure game and it means that it's hard/challenging. The only true challenging part of TP is a couple puzzles and uncovering hidden areas and heart pieces around Hyrule. In fact finding bugs and poes is perhaps the most difficult part of the game.
And trust me, I'm not the kind of guy that rushes through any game.
