I'm testing the connection as wii speak, er, type. it uploaded the first update all peachy-keen, asked for my country, blah, blah, screen burn-in reduction, blah, updating channels, update progress bar. Pray for mii.
I had the problem and have been through the whole process of getting it resolved.

When the problem happens, you can still play your games fine. The only problem is that you can't connect to the network. When you try, it tells you that you need the update, but you can't connect, so you're stuck.

Once I saw the problem, I called Nintendo. They offered to send me a new system, giving me two options: (1) supply a credit card #, they send a new unit, and I send the old one back, or (2) I send my unit first, they send a new unit with all my saved data intact. I chose option 1, even though they warned me that my data could not be recovered.

They overnighted a new system to me, along with a pre-paid return label for the messed up unit. They gave me 21 days to return the old unit.

I was able to transfer my Mii data via the remote, but I was not able to edit them on the new system. You cannot edit Miis created by someone else. I ended up recreating them.

I was able to put the saved game data onto an SD card from the old unit, but the new unit would not allow me to save the data onto the new system. I was warned, but I was still bummed. It took me 18 hours to get back to where I left off in Zelda.
Got my Wii today, thank god it updated just fine and no issues as a result.
What does the update even do?

I hope nothing too important, because I won't have wireless in my house for a few days after I get my Wii

I was so terrified while updating my Wii the first time because of all the problems people were having. It started updating and then about halfway through it seemed to freeze. I couldn't believe it. I was too freaked out to move and then after thirty seconds or so, it started moving again with no problems. If you guys think it freezes give it as much time as you can and it might continue. I'm talking minutes of course, not hours. Better to lose a few minutes of time then to brick it.
I am one of the very lucky ones with the 110213 error code, go me! I will have to call Nintendo when I get out of class here in a bit and try to get this all sorted out. I'm a little frustrated, but at least I can play games and Nintendo is taking care of me.
nothing's wrong with my wii updates, so i guess im okay Smile
