First off, I would like to say that I got my Wii today at EB games. I was number 5 in line, and they got 6. Overall it was an enjoyable experience. I made friends in line, and we talked the whole time about many things. But, there was something that happened that just made me go, "WTF!!".
Ok, so I get there at 4:30 (opens at 7) and there are 6 other people arriving the same time as me and my friend. At the front of the line, there is a father and his daughter, but they are only purchasing one Wii. So after that, another person arrives, and then a few more. At the time, we had no clue how many consoles they were getting. So now, there are about 8 people in line, and 7 wanting to make a purchase. So after that more people arrive, and lets say that makes it about 15-20.
At 6 am, an employee arrives and lets us know that they received 6 Wii's and 2 PS3's. So now, everyone after the person behind me is going Wii-less. We all talk it out, and state what we are buying. The father says he is buying a Wii with his daughter, and everyone else up to the person behind me is buying a Wii. The person behind him who originally wanted a wii decides to buy a PS3 to resell, and the 2 people behind him decide they want to buy 1 ps3 (they were together).
So at 7, we all get in and await to make our purchase. Mind you I live in Massachusetts, and the conditions outside weren't great. So the father and daughter go to purchase their Wii first. After the purchase, the father says "I'd like a PS3!!!" So he made the last person in line wait an hour in the cold for absolutely nothing.
When we all stated what we were buying, why didnt he say he was buying a PS3??? Did he want to piss those people off? Or did he just enjoy watching them wait for nothing? Now don't get me wrong, he has all the right in the world to buy a PS3, but the way he did, that is not the right way to go about things.
I felt really bad for those people who waited 3 hours for nothing. Now most of you have waited longer for that, but they thought they were guaranteed one, and thats why they stayed in line. Basically think of it like this. You have the console in your hands for an hour, and then you get it ripped away from you, only to have to keep searching. I think the father should have said something, because he knew damn sure that he was going to buy a PS3. It wasn't a spur of the moment "Oh I think I'll buy a $600 dollar system". I just think he should have let everyone know like the rest of us. Besides that, everything went fine, and i got my Wii and LoZ: TP =]
