First off, I would like to say that I got my Wii today at EB games. I was number 5 in line, and they got 6. Overall it was an enjoyable experience. I made friends in line, and we talked the whole time about many things. But, there was something that happened that just made me go, "WTF!!".

Ok, so I get there at 4:30 (opens at 7) and there are 6 other people arriving the same time as me and my friend. At the front of the line, there is a father and his daughter, but they are only purchasing one Wii. So after that, another person arrives, and then a few more. At the time, we had no clue how many consoles they were getting. So now, there are about 8 people in line, and 7 wanting to make a purchase. So after that more people arrive, and lets say that makes it about 15-20.

At 6 am, an employee arrives and lets us know that they received 6 Wii's and 2 PS3's. So now, everyone after the person behind me is going Wii-less. We all talk it out, and state what we are buying. The father says he is buying a Wii with his daughter, and everyone else up to the person behind me is buying a Wii. The person behind him who originally wanted a wii decides to buy a PS3 to resell, and the 2 people behind him decide they want to buy 1 ps3 (they were together).

So at 7, we all get in and await to make our purchase. Mind you I live in Massachusetts, and the conditions outside weren't great. So the father and daughter go to purchase their Wii first. After the purchase, the father says "I'd like a PS3!!!" So he made the last person in line wait an hour in the cold for absolutely nothing.

When we all stated what we were buying, why didnt he say he was buying a PS3??? Did he want to piss those people off? Or did he just enjoy watching them wait for nothing? Now don't get me wrong, he has all the right in the world to buy a PS3, but the way he did, that is not the right way to go about things.

I felt really bad for those people who waited 3 hours for nothing. Now most of you have waited longer for that, but they thought they were guaranteed one, and thats why they stayed in line. Basically think of it like this. You have the console in your hands for an hour, and then you get it ripped away from you, only to have to keep searching. I think the father should have said something, because he knew damn sure that he was going to buy a PS3. It wasn't a spur of the moment "Oh I think I'll buy a $600 dollar system". I just think he should have let everyone know like the rest of us. Besides that, everything went fine, and i got my Wii and LoZ: TP =]
Oh wow, cause i'm sure eveyone has $600 lying around the house, hes so heartless, but congrats on the Wii though Smile
some people just don't care...
Thats mean.
but the last people in line... did they get a wii instead?
He probably meant the father bought both a Wii and a PS3, whereas he was only going to buy a Wii for his daughter.

The Wii's were already being purchased, and were going to be sold out by the time it got to be their turn to buy.

who cares stop crying. he could do what he want
That guy is just pathetic. You don't just say, hey I changed my mind I'm actually going to buy another system and let the people that were waiting behind me sit out in the cold for no reason. He could have at least been decent enough to say he was going to get a ps3 as well, so that they would not have to wait for nothing.
What I want to know is if the people who waited in the cold for no reason gave him **** afterwards. I definitely would have.
You would think that that EBgames would limit you to purchase either a wii or ps3 not both.
I was thinking the same thing. I was surprised that the clerk didn't say anything to him.
Diabolical. But people will be people.
My bet is that he wanted a Wii, but after hearing the people in line brag about reselling the PS3 for high profits, he changed his mind. He probably did not know what the PS3 was going for beforehand. Probably taught those in line to keep their mouth shut about their business efforts too.
thats why you never talk about what your going to do with the console after you take it home, unless its play it.

when money talk takes place, people change and will become ruthless to get that money you wanted.
i waited 4 hours

DONT EVEN GROAN bUT I WAS GUARANTEED A WII AND COME TO FIND OUT WHEN I GOT THERE YOU CANT PUT ON LAWAYS AND THE WHOLE TIME WE WAS IN LINE THEY WAS SAYING WE COULD AND I HAD THE WII BOX IN MY HANDS AND I SAID CAN YOU TAKE IT TO LAWAY AND THEY SAID NO SIR AND THEY FREAKING RIPPED THE BOX OUT OF MY HANDS AND GAVE IT TO THE PERSON BEHIND ME!
