When I leave WiiConnect24 on (standby mode active) even though my console is turned off, my Wii feels rather warm to the touch as if its been playing a game for quite awhile. However, when I disable WiiConnect24, the system cools down after I turn it off. Is this how it is for everyone else as well, or is something weird about my console? I'm just worried that if I leave WiiCOnnect24 on for too long, my console will overheat or burn out or something. Any input is appreciated. THanks!
Well heat isnt the real problem with hardware. the only thing that can screw up your hardware is dust and heat! So keep your Wii clean and no worries. Just look at it this way: To melt iron or wathever metal materials you need 800 degreec celcius! (1073 K)....I doubt your Wii will get that temperture! And I wont expect your wii to become 100 C ever

Besides this your Wii uses a small part of electricity when being in WiiConnect 24 mode! I guess its obvious it will warm up!
Some how I doubt the Wii shares the same melting point as iron.
Just being slightly warm isn't a problem though. Just make sure you keep the Wii up off carpeting or any soft surface that would plug the vents and prevent proper air flow.
yea mine has some warmth to it, but I'm not worried. I mean I leave my pc on all the time and its warm. And that is with processor and all working. its nothing to worry about as long as its clean.
Heh I pulled Wii Sports out of my Wii after I left it on for a while and the disk was rather warm. I don't leave it on Standby all the time.. I turn it off about when I turn my computer off. I only leave it on standby in the day. I'm sure it's not going to explode or anything but I don't want it to be warm 24/7.
Very Very odd, My Wii hasn't had any of the issues anyone else's has. Mine makes no noise, doesn't get hot, even though Wii Connect 24 is enabled, and my disc never come out feeling warm, even after playing MUA or ZTLP for hours.
Mine will only get warm in the standby. It only makes a faint sound when I turn it on or put a disk in, but it only lasts for a second.
Thanks for the replies so far. BTW..what sounds are you guys refering to? Is it just the sound of the disc drive like loading up and stuff?

My Wii seems to make a clicking sound. like the laser lense is moving.

Actually, when I go to the Wii menu from the wii shop or something and I have a disc loaded into the drive, it will make this clicking/mechanical noise for a sec. I think its just the drive like working or something. When theres no disc in the drive, it won't make that noise. I'm not too worried about it though. I think it should be fine.
