I live in britain and ive been given an opportunity to get a US Wii.

Can anyone briefly tell me the advantages and disadvantages of importing. I already know i need to play us games.
you can only play us games and need a power convertor so the uk power output doesnt literally fry your wii,
its only another week and a half, i would wait. means you cant play "wii play" will jan, and import costs will end up costing you more. just be patient, its what us english are known for! lol
That's pretty much it. No idea how updating via connect24 would be effected, if at all.
Well he'd have to be hooked up to the US Servers, but I'm not sure how much of a difference that makes as I know an Australian who has imported a US Wii.

But its not that long to wait now, if I were you I'd just wait.
only 12 days to go, and im gettin hyped,.... ive rearanged my room in preparation
Ill wait...ijust bought a tv for it......and im getting kinda silly that its just sitting here.
I'm only tempted to import a japanese wii as it will give me access to the japanese VC..... but first I'll need to learn more japanese :S
I thought the games were region incoded? Like you cant buy Wii games in Britian and have it work on A US Wii..Is that possible or Am I wrong again Toungue
the GCN freeloader disk is confirmed to work on Wii for unlocking GC reigon games. obviously hasn't been tested on Wii games yet but im sure it will be tested in about 9 days Toungue
Over all, never buy an imported system. I personally never have, but long ago I bought "Dragon Ball GT: Final Bout" (JIS) for Playstation, and it didn't work. It turns out I had to buy an illegal adapter. Basically, unless the Wii comes out with an adapter to play U.S./Japanese games on a U.K. console, don't do it.
