This is not entirely true. Just keep calling your local stores and ask when the next shipments come in. I called Best Buy last week on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday and each time got the same answer "We aren't sure when we'll have more". Called on Saturday night though and the guy said "We'll have 51 of them tomorrow at opening". So, I stood in line for 4 hours and got # 19 of 51. Just be persistent and you will find one. Its only luck when you try the "stopping by different stores every day" method. You have to call and bug them to get info from them. Once you have info, its just a matter of getting in line early enough.
Goodluck everyone. But don't be too upset when you don't find one, because honestly it's 99% luck in finding a Wii. You have to have good timing on your side.

Yep. I'm just gonna be calling every day the rest of this week, and if i don't have one by saturday night - a friend and i are going to be at whatever store has them sunday morning, at like 5am haha
Great thread, thanks everyone.
Here's the San Fernando Valley report:
Southern California Targets - No Wiis, the operators and counter staff were all very helpful but just said to keep checking back. I was told they are receiving UPS shipments for the Wiis.
Target Canoga Park got a shipment of controllers in the afternoon. Several boxes of remotes, nunchucks and classic controllers.
Circuit City - Nothing and clueless.
Toys R Us - In the A.M. said they had nothing. In the evening one said they had 16 Wiis that morning that sold out right away.
CompuUSA - Nothing, tried to be helpful, but these guys don't know what's going on.
Best Buy - No Wii, nice but didn't mention anything about a Sunday sale.
Fry's Electronics - Posted a print-out in their sad little games department that read "We don't have any PS3 or Wii and we don't know when we are getting them so don't ask!"
Walmart - Picked up Zelda TP, they had about a dozen copies, other stores were sold out. The manager said they weren't expecting any Wiis soon, but didn't deny that there might be action on Sunday.
Good luck, Wii-Hunters!
The confirmations I got for the Walmart stores distributions are for
Well know if the bb thing is true sat.
My Target at 8am open was a bust. I need to get more info; the girl changing around price tags wasn't bleeding information and kinda blew me off.
talked to 3 walmarts today.
one said they were holding for dec 6 (as expected) but that throughout the day on the 5th you can pick up a ticket for the drawing for one of their 9 wiis. freaking ridiculous. it should be first come first serve, not random.
the other said they were waiting for the next sale ad, but the personnel there is usually mentally questionable, i doubt they could put together a lottery. lol.
and the last walmart said they didnt have any wiis and said they had no idea what i was talking about when i mentioned the sale on the 6th. he was a grade A moron.
toys R us had none at opening this morning
my target got in quite a few yesterday but sold out promptly. grrr.
im calling ebgames and gamestop both at open (10am) and noonish when their shipments arrive.
wish me luck.
grr..... stupid wiis.
Just got back from Target. It took about 20 minutes for somebody to even show up in the electronics dept. When she showed up she told me that the stores are being told to hold them will Sunday, because they are going to be in the ad.
Targets in Bedford & Concord NH now (as of 8am this morning) have nun-chucks but no Wii's.
It seems to be a state by state case as to whether or not Target will be holding the Wiis when they get them in.
For Springfield, MO I have not heard anything about them waiting for an ad. I've been told that they will probably be putting them out as they get them.
Everyone should post their city and state or PM the info to me and I'll make a list for target.
I'm in Columbia, MO.
Target had none at 8am. The guy that works electronics is either terminally rude or stupid or lying, so I don't trust his information.
I'm going to Toys r Us at 9am. The guy there was very nice and informative. They are getting shipments via UPS every day between 9am-12 pm.
Yesterday I scored a PS3 at Target when they opened. They actually had 8 units and they all sold out immediately. Look for it on ebay...

.
Best Buys holding until Sunday, and I think that goes for EVERY Wii they get, I'm not sure. Circuit City knows nothing, but I'm sure it's getting shipments in early afternoon like toysrus & target.
I can't BELIEVE I found a PS3 before a Wii. That's BS! I don't give a crack about a PS3. This whole holding shipments thing back is COMPLETELY BOGUS AND LAME!
Okay here's what I go so far... I stopped by a Walmart today on the way to work and asked the electronics guy about the Wii's. I told him that I had called around and that most Walmarts have Wii's but they're being held for the upcoming ad that's coming out and asked if he knew which day would they be released...
He said more then likely the 12/6... Just a heads up... I'm still going to stop by on 12/3 12:00 AM just to make sure there isn't a earlier release since I'm assuming they'd release them for the usual Sunday newspaper ads & sales...
No word on the ship date on the Journey's site either... I'm still waiting for them to reply to my e-mail....
Yeah, i was shocked to find PS3's at Target the other night too.I contemplated buying it and putting it on ebay, but thought better of it in the end. I have no plans of getting up in the middle of the night and freezing my butt off to get a console that will be readily available sometime soon.
I'm in O'fallon MO.
Toys r Us opened at 9am. Two different workers have been very nice and informative. They don't have anything yet, but will be putting things out within the hour & I saw UPS driving around, so I'll let you know.
Oh, rundown of workers rudeness:
Target: worst
Walmart: surprisingly good (I don't shop there, was just checking)
Gamestop: not very friendly
Gamecrazy: not very friendly
Best Buy: most have been friendly, but uninformative and it seems like they're lying.
Toys r Us: Except the stupid brat who I talked to on Black Friday, the best overall and most informative
Circuit City: Nice, but not divulging any info
Columbia, MO
Okay, so I called the two EBGames in my area and got the same repsonse from both. "We were expecting to get a shipment today. We recieved an e-mail stating that the shipment won't be delivered until monday." On store told me that they pushed the shipment back in anticipation of having more Wii's on Monday. It sounded pretty confident. He stated that they recieve shipment between 12-2 and to check back then.
Target told me to check back sunday, this is the second day in a row.
A Circuit City employee assured me that the Wii will be in the flier on Sunday, with a mimimum of 15 per store.
Wal-Mart has no clue when they are getting more.
I am from the Allentown PA area.
Hope this info helps.
so is best buy on sunday pretty much a done deal?
so is best buy on sunday pretty much a done deal?
Unless you talk to a liar. BBY guy near me said he wasn't sure if they would have any on Sunday. I was like "whatever, but if you do have them then will there be tickets handed out?". He said yes to the tickets.
this is ridiculous. i dont see how so many people already have them while i bust my ass and cant even come close.
not cool.
A third Toys r Us guy was very friendly & informative. He told me they get the shipments in via DHL & they come in between 12-2. I thought that all Wii's were coming via UPS, but he assured me it was DHL. He gave me their direct line to call them during these hours. I hope I get one, because this looking crap is starting to make me not want it as much, but at the same time I have to find it now. It's a quest that I must complete, and I refuse to wait in line at bb or wherever because they are holding shipments back.

No kidding. Nintendo overshot their shipping estimates. I don't care what anyone says, there haven't been ANY in stores in Columbia since launch & a few at BB & Toys R Us on Black Friday. BS, I SAY!!
