Well same ol', same ol' story here in Frisco, TX, a massive UNDER supply of Wii's.

I was at a bachelor party last night, so I was driving home at 4:30a and I guess I should have dropped my brother in law off(he was passed out in the passenger seat) and gone and gotten in line (but it was cold, < 32*, so I probably wouldn't have).

My son normally gets up at 7, but he slept in until 8:30 today, so by the time I got anywhere, everywhere was sold out. There was a crazy line of cars driving all over the place looking for it.

Target: got 42, sold out at 5am (opened at 8)
Target #2: supposed to have 30, only "found" 21, sold out at 5am (opened at 8)
TRU: got 30, there were like 40 people in line when I got there
CC: gave out vouchers at like 5:30 and there were still people in line for the 15 they were receiving. The manager had to tell them to leave since they didn't have any.
Best Buy: "we sold out yesterday" (before they opened, the parking lot was full of soccer moms waiting to get one).
CompUsa: didn't open until 11am, but a guy in the parking lot (employee) said they didn't have any (but he sounded like he was still drunk).

Well, patience *is* a virtue and all that BS. Big Grin
Best Buy in N. Fl. did not have any.
And I don't have a Target in my area.

Sucks Wang.
Got mine at Target got there about 5:45 was #7 they had 27 of em, by like 7:30 about 40+ ppl were lined up and i drove by CC and BB on my way out and they were all lined up as well
Target at Eastlake Parkway in Chula Vista, California had 51 systems. Tickets were handed out at 7:00 a.m., but if you got there up until a few minutes before 8:00 a.m., you could have gotten one. The only people who didn't get one were those that showed up right at opening or after. Super well organized and lots of happy new Wii owners including myself.
I wish my stores have 51 systems to hand out. This isn't a small town, it's a city 20 minutes driving from downtown Detroit. There were 6 wiis for target, 1 at circuit city, none at bestbuy, and 100 people waiting outside toys r us. 2 hours in the cold...no voucher, not even a garantee for waiting. oh well, week three and counting.
My Target was definitely giving off the impression that they were getting a lot of Wiis.

I went at 1:15 A.M. to see if any line had started, and it hadn't. Same at Best Buy (in the same plaza).

I went home to get a little rest before my long night. Was scheduled to pick up two friends at 4A.M.
Only one friend shows up, the other is still MIA.

We get to Target, still no line at Best Buy, but there are now 12 people (getting 10 wiis) in front of us.

So me and my friend are number 11 and 12 in line. Arriving at 4:15 A.M. in ~20ºF weather with a colder wind chill.

The next guy comes alone at 4:30. Slowly some parents start trickling in. By 6 A.M. the line was over 50, by 7 probably around 75.

At 7:15 the managers come out looking horrified. They clearly had not expected such a big turnout, or they had expected more wiis. They announce that they only have 13 for sale. Lots and lots of angry parents.
So me and my friend both get tickets, and go to McDonald's for a quick breakfast while the angry parents yell at the managers. My other friend would have been #13 but he missed out.

We return at 7:50 ready to claim our Wiis, and a new line has already formed with about 20 people in it. We try to explain to them that they already gave out the tickets but half of them wouldn't believe me, thinking they were first in line at 7:30...
By the time the store opens at 8 there's another 50 people outside waiting for a Wii. The manager explains the situation then lets the 13 of us in first, then everyone else. They didn't have enough wiimotes/nunchucks for everyone (they had 9 and the first 9 people all got one extra).
This entire time there are angry parents yelling at the managers and people offering to buy our tickets.
The whole experience was very satisfying, and I've already put a few hours of wiisports/zelda in.

I'm sorry to hear that not everyone was as successful as myself today. If I come across any more information I'll be sure to post it up here, but hopefully this thread won't be necessary in one or two more weeks.

It seems that the wii shortage, at least in the short run, is worse than we all thought.
Yup, I went to CC out by me (MA) They had 23, I got there about 8:30ish...there was bout 30 peeps out there......and they had already given V's out to the first 23, so I loose this time....oh well, onto the next battle Really Happy

scans007 where in MA did u go to CC? i was in line at CC this morning and they had 23 as well!

I went to Circuit City and was first in line. A hour before the store opens the manager comes out and says they don't have any in because their shipment didn't come. So he took everyone's name down and gave us rain checks for tomorrow when the shipment should be there. I grabbed a hand full of remotes, nunchuks, and a classic controller.

I heard that Target had 1, yes, 1. Toys R Us had 16 I believe.

Tomorrow, I should be Wii-Wii.
So this morning i made my rounds , got up ta 4 am and went to circuit city. Wait at CC till 7 am and got a call saying no one was in line at Target and they had 30 . CC had 23. My roommate waited at CC and i went to target and was 18 in line. last person who got a ticket showed up at 7:30ish. Got my Wii, nothing else except games there. Went back to get another wii at CC but they handed out vouchers so my roommate got one. CC had alot of nunchucks and remotes, stocked up on all of them.

Hope everyone made out okay. if not you should have gotten up earlier if you missed the line. If you didnt get any shipments then keep at it.

Now i have racked up a total of 6 wii s and i think im done hunting for them. Ive basically got one for everyone i know that needed one and picked up a PS3 in the process.

There is walmart at 7 am on weds. Suggest you get up at 3 or 4 and get in line early!

If you end up not finding one, there is always ebay or wait till after the holidays! This has been an excellent thread, if you keep your eyes open youll find out all you need to know to find a wii before dec 24th!

LOL that'd be a small world.  In Leominster, MA......Did you score one?  If you didn't next time we'll meet up and hang and wait. Big Grin

The funny thing was I went in to CC yesterday and some guy got a pre-voucher (obv they gave out a couple others cuz they had 25 come in but told us 23 this am) They did this cuz someone on the phone told him they would bring one outta the stock room and he could buy it)  I toyed with say'n "do it for him do it for me" but I felt like an a$$ do'n that, so I didn't....I thought I'd score one this AM.....oh well.

I just thought I'd share my thanks for this thread.

On launch day, I attempted to camp out at Walmart - but was unprepaired
for the weather (It was kind of a spur of the moment thing - I always wait until demand dies down before purchasing anything). So I called it quits; I decided I'd pick it up the next week.

Last sunday I stopped at Target on a hunch - they hadn't received any more Wii's since launch, so I figured they were due for another shipment. After they ran around for 20 mintues checking, they finally decided they didn't have any. So, off to Best Buy, where I showed up 2 minutes late. I was 64 out of 62. I spent the next couple hours trying various stores with no luck,

Determined not to miss out again, I showed up at my local Target (Latham, NY) today at 4:00 and was 12th in line. They had 24 systems, and the last people to receive them showed up around 5:30. At 7:00 they handed out tickets and sent about 50 people home with nothing. People kept showing up after that, some went home, and some argued with the managers. I'd say over 100 people had come looking for the Wii before the store even opened.
(as a side note: my Target originally had 30 Wiis - but appears to have sent a few to another store that goofed up and sold all their systems earlier in the week. That Target only managed to scrounge up 12 for today)

Demand does not seem to be going down - countless parents in the line were talking about how their children just found out about the system, and had to have it. So I'd advise anyone who still doesn't have one - go as early as possible next time. There are still lots of people out there looking, and they're getting more and more desperate to find it.

Crazy....awesome for you man....I'll def hit up that walmart.  Enjoy them!!  Wish me luck....and if you see a Big Orange Dodge Ram Daytona drive'n around, fire me a wave....Big Grin

the really long list of wii #'s by circuit city store was not accurate for the santa barbara, CA circuit city. i got there at 7 (they opened at 10) and counted myself to be 35th or so in line. the post said there should be 54 at my circuit city, and there was only about 30 because i missed it by 5.
Drove by Target at 6 am to get coffee nearby. The workers said they had no Wiis.

Scouted Best Buy, Circuit City & Toys R Us until 7:30, at which point I got in line behind 3 friendly gentlemen at Circuit City. Toys R Us is connected to the Circuit City, and no one was in line there at the time. They were both supposed to open at 10am...

Well, TRU opens at 9am with a line of about 25 people. They had around 14 Wiis. Sold instantly. Those of us in line at CC were jovial and completely freezing at the same time (Temperature 16*F).

The guy at CC opens the first door at 9:30 to let the frostbitten warm up and tells everyone there are NO WII'S and they were supposed to be there. Given all the crap I've gone through to find this machine, it was not surprising in the least. They were supposed to have 15, but all we got were vouchers and AS SOON as they come in, we will get a call (I'm not holding my breath).

The ironic thing is I wanted to buy from TRU, but they gave no confirmation of the number of units they would have.

I still want a Wii, but this whole launch business has been nothing short of ridiculous & retarded. The lack of concrete information is a complete joke with today's ability to track shipments and other technology.

Got one at Target!!! started waiting around 6:30. #23 of 39 they have.... yay!!!
Got to Target at 5am. Manager came out at 7 am. He told us there were 42 Wii's!!! I was 8th in line. (About 50 were in line, so 8 were turned away) At 7:30am we got our tickets.

I FINALLY HAVE A Wii!!! I also picked up Zelda! We set it up for Wireless in like 5 minutes and have been playing ever sine. My wife, who never plays video games is having a blast...The bowling game is fun because it is multi-player even without two remotes.

Target didn't have any extra controllers...and said they are becoming hard to come by.

Thanks to this thread and all the help getting it done...

Good Luck to everyone. If in doubt about when to wake up (4,5,6,7am)...go ahead and get up one hour earlier....trust me, its worth it!!

I agree about how bad this experience has been. Way more people in lines than there were consoles in the O'fallon MO area. One target got 6 consoles. I've become salty and am considering just waiting till next year sometime before I even think of getting a Wii.

On a happier note, my sister in California showed up at target right before opening. They gave out 80 vouchers before she got there, but she still managed to go home with a Wii.

I actually bought two today from Target. I am gonna sell the other one for $350 on ebay or craigslist. Anywant want it for 350 e-mail me at sbhuiyan@mac.com
