any word on the huge shipment affecting canadian wii supplies? oh, and thanks to everyone who has offered any information. i'm still wii-less, but feeling a little more hopeful (even after an utter dissapointment at best buy 27 in line for 13 unitsSad).

Don't worry...if I would have waited at my Best Buy, I would have been 33 with 21 Wii's. I'm still wiiless and I just want to play TP =( it's sitting right infront of me...taunting me...

So nothing at Gamestop/EBGames?
same here got TP but no Wii...if i have to wait much longer for a wii i think im gonna go mental Toungue

Looks like this is the last dance before X-mas.

I dropped him off in one line while I went to another. I didn't know he had one until I went to pick him up. I also got the number for someone in the line with me that didn't get one so that if my hubby and I both ended up with one I would sell the other to him. (Sold it today for exactly what I paid for it.)

well...6000+ units of ps3 divided by 587 stores = 10+ per store. thousands of wii....does that mean 1000 or 10,000? how come everything has a number count and not wii. if there's only 1000+ wii unit on the 22nd, that means each store is getting 1.7 wii. that odd is almost as bad as the amazon drawing...haha. well...if there's a more defined number, maybe i'll drive out there in the morning. otherwise...i'll just go home and pack for christmas.

you are a saint! merry christmas to you. i wish i would've been the one waiting with you. haha

Well, I walked into Best Buy today and saw 3 more 60 GB PS3s sitting on the shelf. And no Wiis. It's funny, there's four times as many Wiis in the US as PS3s, and which ones are harder to find? The Wiis...crazy.

Now I'm waiting to see if I win the chance to buy a Wii in the Amazon raffle. I'm trying not to get my hopes up, but...28-1 isn't THAT bad, is it? Smile

Demand is elastic for the PS3. Only people who are strong supporters of it for a while are interested in getting it now. Many people like it, and would get it given a slight price drop, hence the "elastic" demand.

Are we sure that the number reported for TRU werent given out on sunday? It doesnt make sense to get two big shipments in one week when no one else will be getting them. And from most other post it seems they will be holding off well into the new year. So if you dont have one now it looks like your probably not gonna get one till after jan 1st. Unless you hit up ebay or craigslist. (praise capitalism)

Thanks to everyone for the posts. Sorry for those that missed your wii, but at least in another MONTH or so it will be easy to obtain one

well, i am a strong supporter of sony and i've 2 ps1, 1 ps2, 1 japanese ps2. i've always liked sony more than xbox and nintendo. don't get me wrong...i also have a nintendo and super nintendo, gameboy.... but as soon as ps hits the market, nintendo was poofff....gone. the last nintendo system that i have was GC. which was more or less a disappointment. The only reason that i havn't picked up a ps3 is the launched games. that and i also don't have 600 dollars flopping around my wallet. as soon as i fatten up my wallet, i'll be looking at a ps3. but now, wii's innovative idea and cheaper price has won me over....for now. but who knows....if i do see a ps3 lying around on the shelf, i just might pick one up. i'll just have to live on bread and water for a while and stop taking my girlfriend out...haha. acutally she is a big big big fan of ratchet and clank. so as soon as the new rachet and clank game hits the market, i'd have to find a ps3.

I already have my Wii, but that data about TRU is for this week coming up, hence through Christmas eve.

Sure is true. I posted that press release link in another thread earlier. I wouldn't have done it if it didn't have a date on it and come straight from the TRU website. I think it's safe to assume it's for this week. Smile

I don't know if I'm reading this right but does that say they will sell on December 22? Or is it some random time this week?

nothing in the press release says ON the 22nd...
2701 VETERANS PARKWAY, SPRINGFIELD, IL 62704
phone: (217)787-7346
Next Anticipated Shipment: December 22nd*
Next Shipment Inventory: 10+*

the Wii seeker site says my TRU should have them on the 22nd
http://www.ps3seeker.com/wii/
The Wii seeker site was great for launch and generally has good info. However since launch, they have gotten some details wrong. For example they predicted a December 10th release that never happened.

It looks like from the horse's mouth the release will be the 22nd or earlier. Short of an inside source, there is not much way of knowing how many units will be at what store or when. I think that the 10+ figure per store is high.
Could be but this store had 23 last Sunday and wii seeker said 15+, I did it more to show that they should have them on Friday, not so much the quantity.
TRU will have them because they are stockpiling consoles. They aren't getting a new shipment directly from Nintendo.

The question is when? The announcement doesnt say they will sell on Dec. 22, just says they will be open at 8am then...
