just called... they now have a special menu option about locating a wii, and if you select it they say they can't assist you in locating one.  f that.

yeah, don't do that. It's a pre recorded message that just about every store is using to say "due to low stock we don't know what to tell you". If you use the option for checking on a product and then get to the point where you can speak with a real person they will check for you no problem. As mentioned above I did get the feeling the call center was outsourced somewhere else as well. However after getting through to someone he was able to direct me to the stores in my area.

Now if I could just find more wii remotes.

Wiis aplenty at Wal-Mart today.

I just got back from my local Super Wal-Mart (Blue Springs, Missouri, USA). Turns out that they have PLENTY of Wiis. the case was full (5 of them) but the person said they have more in the back too. They also had plenty of X360's, PS3 (60G's), games, etc....but no controllers at all -_-

So, turns out the system is readily available here, I jumped the gun buying it yesterday, so if you are in the Kansas City area head over to the outlying Missouri side on I-70, the wal-mart is right there on the highway.
Ok, tried the Target number.
Gave the DPCI.
The person on the phone said there was none in stock,
and to call back within 1 - 2 weeks.

Anyone else have that problem?
Hi,

Im in Houston, Texas and I went in the morning to the Target (Memorial Location) and asked the Customer Service Lady if she could find out for me. She was extremely nice and called the electronics guy which got the DCPI number. She looked it up and printed up a receipt type paper with all the stores that had some and wrote down how many had each.

Now I called those stores and they apparently don't update until every 24 hours pass but I did call the Steeplechase store and asked for the electronics guy even though the operator said 100% for sure they had none. When I spoke with the electonics guy he was not so wonderfully nice at first but I explained that I had been looking for awhile and gave him my story. Much to my suprise he said hold on and came back a few minutes later to the phone and said ...ok here's the deal. One is tied up in receiving for the receiving guy (I guess for stock purposes or something they had to do) and he said only two people in the store know about the wii and that was him and the receiving guy. He said he wasnt able to hold it but he would do his best to keep things quiet on it.

45 minutes later I had my Wii Smile after driving from the Galleria all the way to 1960 and Eldridge....and I even got to Chik Fil A before they stopped selling those Chicken Mini's for breakfast.

I would definately take your chances with Target and be really ultra nice but dont be afraid to ask more than one person or ask the Manager himself.
superwalmart had a couple of
wii's today i got one finally.
i'm typing from the wii!!
I heard from the GameStop manager here that they get shipments every week.
Boy, can I relate to everyones frustration. I called the target # and got the same out of stock, try again in 2 weeks. I call my local Targets everyday & get a big NO. The Superwalmart closest to me had 6 on Wed. & I just missed them. She did tell me that they get their shipments ups between 10:30-11:00. (I'm in Clayton, NC) I'm going to try again today but really have no hope left of finding one till next month, maybe. I've become obsesed with it! I've never even played a gaming system just dumb ones on my PC. It's 4:30am & I'm rambling. Thanks for listening!
I still think if you have a Target close by, check it every day. Thats what I started doing last week. Everyday at lunch I went to see what they had and lucked out this week. They had a display full and some in the back. All kinds of wiimotes and nunchucks. I gave up on trying to hit them all, Walmart, Best Buy, Circuit City. never got a good answer. So I picked target and stuck with it everyday and I finally won. Don't give up. Once you have one you will know how worth it all was. Hang in there.
accessories are the hard part here in Houston it seems. I can't find remotes or nunchucks anywhere. Sad, maybe I should say about as hard to find as the Wii. I guess I should've started buying up little things when I saw them so I'd have them, live and learn I guess.
Well to all of you folk still looking, here is another tool to help you out. Go to http://www.itrackr.com, register and put in your zip code. It will tell you all of the nearby stores that have it in stock. You can even put in a mobile phone number and it will text you with the info. I have had my Wii for a few weeks but a guy here at work just used itrackr to get his Wii last night. Maybe it will help!

As far as the accessories go, I would suggest ordering them from Nintendo's online store. You might have to wait for shipping but at least they are in stock!!

Good luck.
Just wanted to let everyone know that the website quoted below does work. I used it this morning and it said that the only store that had it in stock was an EB games 20 miles away, i called and sure enough it was in stock. This seems to be the most reliable one out there. I have been dependent on PSseeker for a couple weeks and the dates given are always vague, plus i found out today from the employees @ ebgames that the site is a total scam in order to get people to bid on Wiis on ebay. So beware! This forum has been so helpful so i just wanted tothank everyone for all of their advice and especially chachmo for posting the itrackr website, i was all ready to give up my hunt until i saw your post and decided to try one last time. For all of those that are still searching, GOODLUCK and definitely give itracker a try. Just don't use the itrack option on the page cuz it will tell you that you have to pay money. in stead register for free and then start at the home page, click on the Wii icon and it'll tell you where all the Wiis are in your zip. Good luck!!!

well, I just tried it & it said EB had it but they did not. They do have a disclaimer about EB not updating very quickly. I'm hoping it works for me,too.
Glad some people are finding Wii's & not having to pay big bucks for them.

Wow I'm glad it worked for you, and very glad I could help. Another buddy of mine here at work just tried driving to a Target where itrackr said it was in stock, only to find that they had none. My guess is that their system thinks it's in stock because it hasn't sold, but in reality they have one system stashed away somewhere for an employee. So my advice would be to call first. Regardless I think it's a good tool that may wind up helping a few people. Happy hunting!!

I won't pay big bucks for one lol, I will wait before it comes to that, besides, I can't, my mom is buying it for me.
I called my Gamestops in SF and no stock...They said maybe next Friday..
My GameStop said they get them in at around this time every week, which at the time he said it, it was noon.
There is a rumor going around that Best Buy is getting a large shipment or stockpiling for January 15, some getting as many as 150 wiis. Hope it's true!
wiiseeker said that walmarts have wii today, jan 5 07 so i went to the nearest walmart which was on the Wii Seeker just now and asked a guy who was working at electric department and he said they had no wii today..
My sister works at Target and told me that her Target does not know exactly when they are going to get any Wiis in, but when they do it will be a very large shipment (~200). This is the Target at the pointe in Pittsburgh.
