I finally got my component cable today and it cost me a bit. I figure it's a one time purchase so oh well. Anyways, I rushed home and connected it to my TV, which does support EDTV according to the website. When I started my Wii everything was ok so I went to the Wii Settings and changed the screen reslution to be 480P. After I clicked on confirm the screen refreshed and now I see double. I see 2 pictures of the same screen side by side with a thick black line seperating them in the middle. Anyone know how to fix this problem? What should I do? Please help me if you can.
Sorry for the double post but I've been searching and searching and it's like a needle in a haystack. I read the instruction booklet carefully and there is nothing there. I even went to Nintendo.com and looked in the support section. I feel so helpless and sad.
maybe it's a messed up component input?
hmm, if so I'll kill the shop owner who sold it to me. Everything seems to be plugged in fine. I actually have two TVs that are exactly the same model. I'm gonna try it on the other one to see if the results are the same.
is it possible that the picture in picture is enabled from your TV set? I haven't got my component cables yet so can't tell you much.
My TV doesn't have picture in picture. It looks like the screen has been cut in half with the right half showing on the left, then a thick black line in the middle, and the left half showing on the right. I see two cursors and if I go to the main screen that displays all of the channels, the screen shakes like crazy and it's hard to see anything. I can view it in 480i mode but then what's the point of the cables...
My guess is your TV doesn't support progressive scan.
yea it sounds like that to me. My tv did the same thing when I switched into 480p mode. However there is still a noticeable change with teh cables even in 480i. I just figured I'd deal with it until I get a new tv.
I think the last two of you are correct. I do see some difference even with it in 480i. It looks a bit sharper and brighter. It sucks not having it in 480p. Time to get a new TV perhaps. Last one I've had for about 3 or 4 years now!
that's definetly what it is, my tv supports all resolution up to 1080i...I found that out when I tried to switch my 360 to 1080p, and got the exact same problem you described.
