Reggie Fils-Aime, President of Nintendo of America, recently spoke with Adam Pasick of Reuters, discussing Wii, the console's ability to display flash content, as well as online gaming and Wii-mote safety precautions.

Many have expressed interest in the fact that, coupled with the Opera web browser, Wii can display Flash content. "If you go to a Web site with a Flash game you should be able to play it," Fils-Aime said, adding, "But not necessarily with the full 3D motion of the Wii remote." Interestingly he also said, "There have been a number of development companies that have reached out to us who say they want Flash-enabled games to play on the Wii console."

It's clear some Wii owners are getting, physically, as into the games as they can, with many having smashed TVs, lamps and windows. "We keep telling people three things: When you’re playing Wii and your hand gets sweaty, you gotta wipe it off," explained Reggie. " And you have to properly attach the strap, some people aren’t quite doing it the right way, which can lead to the Wii remote potentially flying off. And the third piece, a lot of consumers when they’re playing Wii Bowling are actually letting go of the Wii remote like it’s a real bowling ball." Pushing the message to the max, he continued, "So wipe off your hands, use the Wii properly, and don’t throw the remote."

Pasick also asked Reggie about the possibility of massively-multiplayer online games appearing on Wii. "The Wii certainly has enough power to drive an MMO and make it totally interactive," replied Fils-Aime. "Are we as a first party looking at it? Not so far, but are we encouraging other developers to look into this? Absolutely. We believe with the nunchuck and the Wii remote it could be a fantastic MMO. There’s nothing from a pure MMO standpoint in the pipeline but I have spoken with a handful of developers and it’s something they’re intrigued with."

The entire interview can be both read and heard, right here.

Interesting Reggie, not looking into first party MMO's but encouraging third parties to do so. Well I hope third party groups listen then.

I really hope we get a MMORPG! *Drools at the thought of playing MMORPG with the WiMote + Nunchuck Combo!*
Add that with a keyboard/mouse combo for people who want it, or just keyboard, and then add a headset ability. AWESOME MMO. WoW for Wii lol.

Toungue
Well WoW might be a bit much but maybe a PSO. Episode 1 and 2 were on the GC and the Wii seems much better suited for it so why not.
LemonX, make sure the headset is wireless too with the built in mic as well so we can talk trash!
I threw my wii remote across the room when I was playing wii bowling without the strap and broke my TV.  I will sue the bastards! Just like the time my cat died when I microwaved it to dry it off after his bath. Or when I ate five foot-long subway sandwiches three times a day and didn't exercise, and didn't lose weight. Or the time I spilled coffee on my lap because I didn't know it was hot. And don't forget the time I found a finger in my KFC chile.

I love pancakes!

wow o.O ppl actually let go of the wiimote?! they do realize its not a bowling ball right?
I think he was joking about that but yeah some people are stupid enough to either not use the strap or they "overact" and accidents happen. Since I can't just go around and buy new TVs or replacement controllers I use more care.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again: A Zelda MMORPG would ROCK!

Just think about this guys:

1. Races: Goron, Hylian, Gerudo, Zora, Koriki. There's 5 right there and each can have a favored class (in this order: Fighter/Barbarian, Fighter, Rogue/Ranger, Sorcerer/Cleric, Druid/Ranger).

2. Add horseback combat: Focus on melee or ranged (spears, arrows, slings, etc.)

3. WiiConnect24: Play by yourself or hook up with up to x people (I'm thinking 3 orthers (4 total).

4. Future updates: Add mass to the continent, randomly generated dungeon crawls, even ship-to-ship combat (a la Wind Waker) and random baddies (aka: pirates) on the high seas.

Dude i toatlly agree with that, that would be sweet.....
But i honestly don't think nintendo wants to head that direction with Zelda games....to tell you the truth it would more then likely ruin the franchise.....but still it would be AWSOME to do that...
Mabye you should send your idea to nintendo....

Reggie is one butt ugly dude. But all that aside he better look into MMo or our beloved Wii WILL fall behind. Why have online access and no MMO its redundant. Like waking up dead...LOL or turning up missing.
MMO for Wii, im Game Big Grin

3 or 4 others isn't an MMO man. 1000's is better.

idk about that, i just got an email from nintendo about safety with the wii, and one of the things they said was "dont let go of the wiimote". and then they gave the example of not letting go of the wiimote while playing wii bowling, so i think its a realy problem, lol.

dude i think a zelda MMORPG would be sweet, but it would ruin the zelda franchise completely. even if it was good. i WOULD really like to see a 3rd party MMORPG "similar" to zelda. maybe get nintendos 'ok' to use some of the characters.
