How much better does the picture quality look in 480p and does it take up the whole widescreen tv? I play my Wii on a 57'' and in 16x9 there are still black bars on the top and bottom of the games I play.
have you tried it yet? will 280p is pixels per inch, the higher the number the better the picture, and when your trying to expand onto your big screen tv, things may get streched a bit

The picture is infinately better, One site even said they tested them with zelda and the reviewer had to go out and get some too, because he refused to play it with the composite cables.
And depending on the res of your plasma, it should at least fill up most of the screen

I went to order my componant cables on Nintendo.com, but they only allow Visa and Mastercard.....what a bunch of twats Wink *i still love you discovercard Wink

"Infinately better"? So would 720p be a 3 x infinity improvement? Toungue

It would be better if you were playing on anything besides a plasma too. I hope dragoon was wrong in the assumption though, a 57 inch plasma, it's almost an oxy moron, a nice giant screen with crap for qualty.

Yep Toungue (p.s. appologies on the spelling)

Plasmas in the UK arent all that bad, but we are an LCD dominated society

cant wait for laserscreens though. Though, I get the feeling I'll be splurging out on an LCD as soon as I get a decent job again Smile

They arent that bad but still LCD is better.

I'm looking forward to SED tv's too, they look promising. All the CRT benefits without the drawback of limited viewing range of LCD and incredible contrast ratios. And they are as thin and big as LCD's.
Well if you have an HD TV, set your Wii to Wide-screen and have the component cables, it should be better, right?

yep Smile

For those that REALLY wanna know.....here is a few screen shots of 280p vs 480p

And if you search ebay for compenent cables for wii they have the comp pics too
I have the component cables, and I play on a 32" LCD, and I must say, the picture is incredible! I've only had the chance to play Wii Sports and Mario 64 using the component cables, but it is one hell of a difference.

If you have a TV that will allow you to have them, I strongly recommend getting them.
Awww....that makes me want a tv that will do 480p Toungue but I bet it will still look ok on my tv (24" CRT Wega 9 years old and still kicking). Once I graduate and get a job I will upgrade, or if I am able to win the raffle I will be getting a 26" LCD for $200 on Amazon tomorrow. I hope I get selected, that would be fantastic, but I never win these things...so probably not Toungue

Go CRT!!! hahaha j/kin

nah, DLPs get screen burn, you want an LCD or an LRD

DLPs do not get screen burn.

Unless you get your blow torch too close.

You sure about that?

Leave a game paused on it overnight then

Positive. DLPs project an image using mirrors. Haven't you seen the commercials?

Nope I live in the UK, there are three (well four) choices, CRT, LCD or Plasma (and Projector)

I figured DLPs were just posh Rear Projections

they are projectors but they work differently and don't suffer from screen burn anymore (first and possibly 2nd gen's did) but they are ont he 6th gen and made some huge advances
