I acutally have a newbie question that i cant figure out. After playing a gamecube game after while i want to go back to the home screen. so i hit hit home on my wii remote and it just lights up like its trying to sync with the wii in order to get back i have to restart the console is there another way to do this ?

Although I dont have a Wii myself, I would imagine looking through the manual that came with the Wii. That might save some time and frustration.
Somehow I doubt that you can.
Guess you just turn it off when your done?

it's not a newbie question--nintendo just made it a little unintuitive unfortunately.
You have to manually turn the console off then on again to get back to the channel interface.
As you said, hitting the home button does nothing.
Same with the power button (gotta do it on the console, I'm afraid)
Ejecting the disc will pop up the "please close disc cover" screen from the gamecube game
Reset just resets the gamecube game
So, to make it simple, you've got to push the power on the Wii itself
Annoying, but I think we'll live
Yeah, hopefully they might be able to make it so home will work through an update. I think it would be possible to do that at least.
I smell the possibility of a firmware update
Really i smell flowers... ^,^
yeah thats what i do is just shut the console off or reset it . :/ the manual doesnt really say, oh well hopefully a firmware update replaces this :o
How could it. The Gamecube game doesn't have the programming to run with a Wiimote, or it's "Home" button?
it woulda been more a lot easier to just pick up the wii remote and hit home and go back to the channel selector screen rather then get up walk over reset and then eject lol im lazy what can i say :o
Yea it doesn't seem like it SHOULD be possible. It would take alot of decoding and reworking to get it to interect with the GCN part of the Wii. Definitlely possible in an update if enough people let themselves be heard.
Whatever it is that you guys are smelling is room for improvement.. I suppose. I don't mind getting up after playing some Super Smash. Just the price you pay for having a good time. I'm happy that I can play the Gamecube games in the first place.. so standing up and turning it off isn't an issue for myself.

It just isn't an issue..it just isn't. If you're telling me, and being serious about it, that you are too lazy to get up and press reset, you don't deserve to play. Replace all video-game related items with exercise equipment.
i dont think there being serious, just playing around really. but anyways, i dont believe this would be possible. even if they can do a firmware update, they cant change the disk and how its programmed to respond. i suppose they could make it so that the home button on the wiimote just quits the game. but it seems like to much work for the time being, in the grand scheme of all the things we want nintendo to fix, this seems small, lol. but i didnt think about this problem, i havent even plugged a gamecube disk into my wii yet=) and ive had it sense launch.
They could just program the button to be l+r+a+s because some games reset if you do that. So that would only work with those kind of games.
Until then if you really don't want to get up, you should be able to hit the power button on your Wimote to shut it off and once again to turn it back on.
