WHATS UP WITH THIS????? I just called the gamecrazy where i have my wii reserved and they said when it comes in I will also have to buy 5 other accesories for it or they wont sell it to me! They said this is something all the stores are doing. Is this true or are they just trying to get me to buy more of their stuff? I need to know what I should do, I think I'll have the money but im kinda worried.
I have heard NOTHING of this. They are shanking you royally.
It would most likely be illegal for them to forced this on you, however, you should definitely look at your pre-paid ticket and read it carefully. I think they realize that there will not be enough product to fit all of the pre-paid so they are trying to get as much out of it as they can. After you finish with this store, I suggest you not go back. Maybe losing customers will make them change their minds about how they do business in the future.
When I got my PS3 from FYE they made me buy 1 extra controller and 2 games...which was ok for me....but I never heard of 5 accessories...
Even if this is illegal....which I don't think it is...I wouldn't know where you could go to fight this...
Of course, if it was me I would be ok with that, just buy 2 wiimotes, 2 nunchucks, and 1 classic controller. If you don't want them you can easily sell them for what you paid, or maybe more, on here or on ebay or something.
Good luck getting your Wii.
It would be illegal (I think?) if it wasn't mentioned when he reserved it/on the ticket. You can't swindle folks like that. Particularly if you had to put in a deposit. If you're too worried, you could probably get that back, at least.
Yeah, that's why he must look at his ticket to see the terms. If it says like not responsible for changes in promotion, packaging, etc... then he couldn't really do anything.
i bought more than 5 accessories when i preordered my wii, so it wouldn't affect me, but that's just crazy. stores that force people into bundle packages like that (which is essentially what it is: a wii, and bunch of extras that you have to buy in order to get the wii) should realize that many of the people they are forcing to purchase these things are not coming back, and they just hurt themselves in the long run.
well, no matter what you can get your deposite, back, but if it doesnt say anything about that on the receipt, then call your court house and ask what you should do. i believe i remember hearing about this 1 other place, it really doesnt seem on the up and up to me if you know what i mean, i bet its either them trying to get more money from you, or some teenage loser that works there trying to be funny, and save a wii for himself thinking you wont buy the extra stuff.
If you are forced to buy them, I will buy a Wiimote from you

hehe
they're trying to steal your money. dont do it!
Buy it and then return it....they cant refuse to take it back. EB and gamestop are notorious for gouging gamers. Take 360 launch for example, YOU HAD to trade in so many games to get a preorder, or your old system. I would call around and check out what the corporate office has to say. The workers tend to be mean and a little "angry" when dealing with younger kids, which is wrong, they are the future customer base.
I've never heard of anyone doing this, either.
yet another reason im not a fan of gamecrazy
thanks guys
No update?
Like previous posters have said, you shouldn't have to buy anything extra. Don't give in and let them just give you your deposit back either. Do an internet search regarding your state's "bait-and-switch" laws. They may apply here.
This is really dumbfounding. They shouldn't be able to do this in theory, but you may have to do some research. I don't think it's really worth it, but if you find out that they absolutely are not allowed to do this, then threat with legal action. That should do it.

Literally! What the bloody hell. I've heard of bundle but not stores forcing you to buy excess accessories.
Well i just worked it all out. As it turns out I am going to have to buy 5 more things to get it. The good thing is that I already was going to buy a wiimote and nunchuck, so thats 2 things, then Im going to buy a warrenty which makes 3, I got zelda and they counted that,4, and I will probly get a points card or another game to make 5 items. So really there just making me buy 1 more thing than I would have anyway but im satisfied now. Thanks again to all of you guys, I'm definetly not going back to game crazy for anything anymore.

Well, you did it, you gave in. What did your preorder agreement say? It probably doesn't mention anything about having to purchase more accessories, does it?
o well, as long as ur ok with it, but BTW the wii comes with an atleast like 90 day waranty, which is extended when you register online. so u dont have too, i know when i got mine on midnight on launch days almost convinsed me to get one, but i learned they were full of cr@p. and that like 15 mins from my house is a place to swap nintendo stuff if it breaks.
