For the first time since the SNES, a game has been packaged with a Nintendo console. Back at E3 2006, this game was voted 'Best Sports Game'. But as the final retail version stack up to the hype from E3? The answer is yes!

You have 5 sports to choose from Tennis, Baseball, Bowling, Golf and Boxing. The Wii Remote works exactly as you would expect it to, becoming a Tennis Racket, a baseball bat, a bowling ball, a golf club and (with help of the nunchuk, boxing gloves.

Tennis is the first sport and an instant hit. You simply bring the wii remote up and back down to serve. Hitting the ball is as easy as it would be on a Tennis Court. You swing the remote just like you would a Tennis Racket You can hit lobs, backhands and slices with ease. Tennis falls short in the fact that you won't have much fun without someone else to play with.

In baseball you simply swing the Remote like a baseball bat. The harder you swing, the harder your Mii will slam the ball. To pitch you simply throw the Wii Remote forward (without actually letting go of the remote). Baseball falls flat in the fact that the distance you hit the ball determines how many bases your Mii runs around. It would've been a little more realistic if you had been able to steal bases/tag opposing team members out.

In bowling you simply raise the wii-remote up to shoulder level, hold the B-trigger, swing your arm back and then forward again, letting go of the Wii-Remote at the highest point. This game is the most realistic on Wii Sports as it depends on height of throwing as well as speed and power of the throw.

In Golf the Wii-Remote becomes your club and you hold 'A' and swing the remote like you would a golf club. There's two options: 3 holes on Beginner, Intermediate and Expert Modes or a 9-hole game. It would've been nice to see an 18-hole game like in actually golf or the ability to get a hole-in-one included in this game but what is there is great fun.

Finally there's boxing. This is the only game in the Wii Sports package to require use of the nunchuk. You hold both the Remote and the Nunchuk up at face level or at your belt and jab forward to punch. You can do combos by stringing together blows in different sequences of left and right. This game supports 2-players (both needing a nunchuk and a remote).

Graphically, this game falls flat. You use Miis as the players and the Miis aren't the most realistic looking characters in the game. Of course, thanks to the small size of the Miis, the playing fields look absolutely gorgeous. Some of the fields, such as the Baseball Stadium and the Tennis Courts, look PS3 graphic quality.
Gameplay wise, this game also suffers. Unless you have at least 4 people to play with you aren't going to enjoy many of the games. Boxing can be played 1 player with no problems but games like Tennis and Baseball really aren't that much fun to play by yourself.

But Wii Sports is an excellent game that would be well worth the price if it had not been included in the Wii package.
