The Wii has many great games coming in 2007. Destructoid's put together a top 10 list of the Wii's more promising post-2006 software.
I'm not totally in agreement with their choices, and there are at least 2 major games missing from the list. But read it for yourself and draw your own conclusions.
Nintendo has a lot to prove this generation. Their last console has essentially tanked and there is very similar hardware under the hood of the Wii. Despite innovations in motion-sensing gameplay, the eternal fanboy question lingers: is history destined to repeat itself or are there actually going to be games in 2007 that propel this console into the lead? I'm not sure, but I can tell you a lot about the most anticipated games of next year that can make or break it.
Judging by holiday sales figures, the console has already captured the imagination of the people. But as we all know ... it really is all about the games, not just the machine. Until then, all we can do is research and analyse their lineup to the death. Having done so, I found myself with a list of potential upcoming releases into a Top 10 list to look forward to with your minds and wallets.
These are the most promising games on the Wii in 2007, destined to become the most influential to the console's future. Starting with...

im an xbox person and Mario is one of my favorite games... >_>
apparently not for this guy...seems to me he favors a lot of FPS
As far as the general gaming/non-gamer Wii players and future Wii devotees are concerned:
I think that SM Galaxy is going to be a huge draw. Especially now that some parent who know of Super Mario as a kid have their own kids. This factor will get alot of them to buy a console when perhaps they haven't played in a long time, for their kids, but then will maybe end up playing and loving it themselves.
SSBB...Yes, a big draw for the more hardcore of gamers, but the majority population I think won't feel so hyped up about it.
Lastly, Right now the Wii is being owned by the early adopters, those who really like video games and want every system. I don't think Nintendo will see if they can really penetrate the current/past non-gamer sectors until mid-late 2007 when the console becomes more readily available. It is at this point where getting these people over really is key, and MOST of the games on this list WILL NOT get these people to buy a system.
Overall I disagree with this list because 1. It doesn't target what is important for hard-core gamers and 2. It doesn't target what is important for casual gamers (Nintendo's additional target market with the Wii)
ok....maybe I'm off topic and I rambled....but I think there is a point in there somewhere....
I also don't agree wit his list. He has Mortal Kombat in the top 10! Don't get me wrong, I loved the old Mortal Kombats but the new 3D versions suck, including Mortal Kombat 4, Gold, and V that I have. I just can't take anyone serious that puts that in the top 10. Like others have said, no Mario games in his list. Who is he kidding?
sorry, but this list blows. lol. no mario, yes he explained why but that was a load of cr@p. also, the disaster game looks terrible to me, very lame story from what was explained, and i hate to break it to you destructoid, but NONE of those games are gonna attract new gamers or anyone else for that matter, lol. that was a giant waste of my time, lol.
I can't believe that they didn't even make mention of Brawl. WTH?
yea thats what i was thinkin....dont they like ssb? mario beating the crap out of yoshi? thats beauty
Everyone calm down, my God. Like he said there has never been a bad Mario game (I disagree, Sunshine made me cry) and there hasn't been a bad SSB game (True) so why have them on a list that could go either way.
And for those saying "teh list bl0wz."
Metroid will own you all.
But it is stupid of him to compare Metroid Prime 3 to Gears of War.
Metroid Prime = First Person Adventure.
yea...sunshine was bad....but still....ssb has to be a "most promising wii game of 2007"
Not really, it could be screwed up. If it gets slowed down too much then it fails.
....why would you ever think that...lol....but seriously that cant happen, its ssb....if it does happen im blaming it on you haha
Just saying, don't hype a game to be uber amazing. SSBB is gonna be great, but its not for everyone. Some people believe the SSB series lacks depth.
Why do people hate Sunshine so much? I thought that game was pretty decent.
Why do people hate Sunshine so much? I thought that game was pretty decent.
I agree and thought it was a good game. It was also critical received well.
It just felt like Mario 64 with a lame talking water cannon + a final boss which is way too easy.
Mario Galaxy hopefully adds something deeper to the series.
wow, destructoids list sucks IMO
codenamerevolution's is WAY more promising
yea i just about agree with everyone...but i really didnt like sunshine...mario 64 was awesome. and i dont think im gonna like galaxy either because....i dont really know but i just dont think im gonna like it haha
