Hopefully none of you have experienced horror stories such as the ones we've heard of where people are breaking TVs, laptops, and other fragile items when their Wii remote straps snapped.

Well if you've been super gluing your remote to your hands for fear of smashing something (but apparantly not your remote. They've been holding up so far) help is on the way. Nintendo has begun manufacturing Wii remotes with more durable wrist straps. If you havn't picked up a console yet, then there's a good chance that your Wii will come with one of these re-enforced remotes.

Nintendo now shipping stronger straps - Nintendic

That's nice news.. for those of us with no self control.
actually i have had absolutley NO trouble with mine. i cant beleive people actually throw them through tvs and stuff....actually i have a wiimote glove so it helps....a lot....yea so i can see it happening haha
I use a glove as well.. and if so many people are throwing their Wii-motes through TV's and walls and at people etc.. then maybe they should get smart enough and do something for themselves. They could use a glove or do something on their own to improve their grip. It's surely not rocket science.
yea i love the glove(wiimote not power) its grippy and if ya hit it on something its more of a thud not a crack....ya know? lol
Indeed. I wouldn't worry about cracks anywho. I demonstrated to a couple people.. I banged my Wii-mote against my T.V. I wouldn't do it without the glove on, though. It's my little safety unit.
yea. i cracked it right off the counter the first day i got it. wiimote glove had it covered...also it gives it a little bit more bulk and it fits better in my hand....which i like
Good to hear, man. I haven't experienced any of the stresses those guys have had, but i's good to hear that Nintendo is on the case.
Indeed. It's nice to hear but I bet it could have been avoided.
The vids are youtube are the dumbest fools I have ever seen. No need to hurl the controller like that and they know it. So those of us who do own the Wii any word on getting new straps? I contacted Nintendo this weekend when I ordered a game manual from them. Time will tell. I do believe it is a recall.
naw its not a recall just the new controllers are gonna be sent with better straps...i dont care tho cause i could play without it and still be fine...even though i never would...i like my wiimote
I've played Wii Sports going all out and never had any trouble holding on to the remote. It's just a case of holding on tight and not letting go of/throwing it. I mean seriously. Anyone with half a brain should know it's not meant for throwing.
yea...the only problem i could even see happening is hitting something with it...like someone walking buy or a glass of a table or someone your playing with thats the only thing ive ever come close to doing...i think a lot of the stuff on the internet is fake tho....come on is the world really that stupid.......
hmm.. I though I posted this yesterday. I thought it would get moved here.
There must be some pretty careless people out there.

I mean I play the Wii about 2-3 hours a day since it was released and I've never let go of it, let alone needed the wrist strap (I still wear it just in case) I also have a glove for it, so that's probably helping too.
Same here. Just to be safe. Plus I play my friend's Wii so I'd feel real bad if I broke the controller, let alone his TV, his TV stand, or wall. Not to mention that Wii remotes are hard to come by.
