Some of you may have know this or not but here it is. Can some prove it actually does instead of using QuicktimeTwisted
Hmm well it's working on a Japanese Wii.. That's great news I suppose. I hope I can get something like this to work on my Wii.
interesting idea.
they don't work I just tried
I believe you need to transfer the DivX movie to a MJPEG or .mov using Wii Video 9. I'm pretty sure that is what that guy did. But darn it looked pretty sharp too. 300 looks awesome!
I use Wii Video 9 and it works perfectly for me. Though the size of the file you convert seems to double and sometimes triple in size. At the highest setting my videos look as smooth as they do in the original form IMO.
Have you tried a full-length movie? i'm waiting for my 2 GB SD card to come in the mail. As soon as I get it, i'm a try a movie. DivX movies are usually around 700-800mbs. If they could somehow fit onto a 2GB SD with Wii Video 9 and still be good quality, I would like that!
Yea, my friend and I found 2GB SD cards online for $26 USD each. Thought it was a pretty good deal, so we each got one (didn't have enough money left on my credit card to pay for extra's)...so, now, when I receive the card, I'll have Zelda, SD Card, possibly classic controller...and no Wii...
I have converted a full-length movie and the size is huge. I only have my 1GB SD card at the moment and there is no chance of it fitting on. Dependin on the length of the movie, it might not even fit on a 2GB!
Nice! Buy 2 gig SD and your settledWink
anyone have a link to a page that talks about this 'wii movie 9' thing?
Converting ur files to Mpeg1 is really silly, nintendo should have thought of getting with the times and use a more recent code. Maybe in the updates we shall se something.
Big Al, you can go the website below to download the Wii Video 9 program.

Wii Video 9
I was just going to ask that Big Al. AND Thanks Mana for the link! I want to try to find somehow to hook up external HD's.. gotta' be able to trick it some how. That would solve this probably instantly.
No problem. Yeah, I'd love some way to connect my external HD to it, especially if they allowed other video formats and didn't need to convert the files to be monsters. Even so, I could live with the monster files if I could use my HD!
Forgive me asking.

Although it is interesting, what application do you find it useful playing videos from Wii?

If you don't mind me asking. How big was the movie file to start with?
How long was the movie?
What final size did it end up as?

Off the top of my head I can give you one example that I remember. I converted a TV show that lasted approximately 42 mins and was about 350MB in size before I converted it. After converting it the file was over 1GB. I would estimate it around 3x of the actual file size but it probably depends on what kind of file the orignal was. Its a free program so feel free to download it and give it a try and let us know what you find. Hope it works for ya.
Oh no, I already have it downloaded, just waiting for my SD card. I have a file that is 700mb. If 3x is 2100mbs, obviously taht won't work out very good for me Toungue
pHr0sT, you can change the bitrate that it encodes the file and play around with some of the settings to reduce the size. However, if you want it to look the best it can then yeah it will be a monster file. Try it on the default setting to see what it comes out to be.
