I was in NYC today and dropped by the nintendo world store. They had no wiis but they did have a ton of classic controllers. I mean seriously like three racks full of them. So if anyone in the nj/nyc area needs a classic, the nintendo world store is the place to go.
ive been lookin for one but im def. not goin to ny for it lol
If you looked in the thread I posted two days ago as well, most Circuit City stores had them in stock for in-store pickup. I ordered two and picked them up yesterday. A new shipment must have just rolled out.
why not get a GAMECUBE controller instead. Its cheaper and it plays more games than the classic controller.

All the virtual console games come with explicit directions on the CC, as well as some VC games from genesis and TG-16 dont play on the GCN controller. The CC does play them.

Well, I must admit I don't have my Wii yet and I have not every tried out the Classic Controller (I did order one though) and here is my logic:
1. I already have 3 Cube Controllers (1 wavebird 2 wired) These will be used for Cube and N64 Games.
2. The CC will be used for the other games. I don't know how the D-Pad is, but I thought the D-Pad on the cube controller was too small for me (Especially when playing the Mega Man Collection i notice this, as I do not like to use the analog stick for these games designed for use with the D-Pad; EG-> Alot of the older games in the VC).
3. Some games I think will work better with the classic controller, in particular the new Metal Slug game. I saw the video on IGN about the wiimote and nunchuck being used to control it, but both look not as accurate as should be capable with the classic controller, (*PS-> The better have included CC support in the Metal Slug Anthology or maybe I won't get it...unless i try it out and the wiimote control actually works well.)
Anyways, I also just like to have every option, because I'm sure that on a game to game basis a particular controller will be suited for each game. So I break it down as follows:
Old games designed for D-Pad use: Classic Controller
Games Designed for Analog Stick use: GameCube controller
Games Designed for the Wiimote (NOT Compilations of old games though): Wiimote
Well, those are my thoughts on this.
I agree completely with you CDROBER. I'm on the fence about N64 games, but the Dpad on the CC is WAY BETTER, and will make NES (etc) games much better. The design is intuitive, and the thinness makes it overall just feel better for the job of playing classic games. It also may just work out as better for older games, with things like even sized buttons. I perfer the classic controller strongly for these many reasons.
Its not so much functionallity and cost, but also how better the gameplay feels.
Yeah, I was at nintendo world not too long ago and saw all those beautiful classic controllers. I didn't get one there because it was too crowded, but I did happen to stop by TRU at the right time to pick up the last one. (You've probably heard this already, but I'm just so excited that it happened lol

)
I know I'm not going to New York just for a controller. I live about 7 hours away from there, so it's basically out of the question.
I've never actually seen a classic controller on the shelves anywhere around here, and I'm always checking out the wii section.
The classic controller is IN-STOCK right now at bestbuy.com
You know what I was thinking, once they release the new Wii colours, do you think they'll sell Gree, red, black Classic Controlers too?
