I had the same problem as you goofygrin, luckily Nintendo was easy to work with and I have a working Wii in my room now. Their customer service was excellent and I even got 4 new Wiimote straps for free while I had them on the phone (this was before they issued the recall).
ya, ull just get all of the updates right then when you connect.
Got my Wii at launch, finally got my router to work tonight and updated after i updated and tried to connect to the weather and channels I got this bloody error...
yay mine updated fine. i think they said the bricks were due to bad ram in certain consoles, not the network problems. anyway that sux gl with ur replacement. this message was posted from my wii!
I called on Wednesday and got the replacement on Friday (WA to TX).

Awesome service!
well, i have heard a number of you guys say that you got a wii and are to afraid to do an update because you are worried about your wii bricking on you... BUT this is a very short sided view. that means that you will NEVER be able to update, and i know that your ALL gonna wanna have some of the kool updates later. plus better to have it brick now while its still under waranty. so go ahead and do it now, that way if it does die, you can get a good one.
It's just weird how it bricks after you update, before i had no problem connecting and downloading the update then after updating it was all down hill from there.
