The name of the long-awaited seventh Harry Potter book has been revealed as Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
It will be the final instalment of JK Rowling's massively popular series featuring the schoolboy wizard.
The title of the eagerly awaited book appears on publisher Bloomsbury's website.
A publication date has not yet been set for the book, which will follow Harry and friends during their final year at Hogwarts.
Rowling, 41, has admitted on her website that she is still writing the book.
She said: "I'm now writing scenes that have been planned, in some cases, for a dozen years or even more.
"I both want, and don't want, to finish this book."
But she reassured expectant fans: "Don't worry, I will."
The multi-millionaire recently hinted that two characters are expected to die in the finale - and Harry himself might not survive - saying: "We are dealing with pure evil here.
"They don't target extras, do they? They go for the main characters - well, I do."

I don't think you are a geek for posting it. I love harry potter! I have all of the books, and will be surely getting this one on the first day! Thanks for the info Dume, now all we need is the release date, then I can start a countdown. It probably won't be released until after the next movie though, so we may have quite awhile to wait...who knows!

I'm siked about this but I really am afraid that Harry may be the one who does die. I know sometimes the hero dies but this will suck so much if he does considering he is basically the whole story.
Just for the record, Harry Potter is going to die, remember the prophocy?

Meaning both Harry and Voldemort die.
How can the prophocy come true? Harry Potter is a Horcrux! Meaning even if he destroys all the other Horcruxes, Voldemort can't die unless Harry dies!

I read along time ago that the last word of the seventh book will be scar.
I'm really hoping that it's not a letdown...and you're not a geek for posting it, but I'm a geek for having a subscription to Borders and Barnes and Nobles, just to get information like this as soon as they get it. I saw this in an email, and subscribed to a notice by Borders telling me when I could preorder one online, as well as put in a preorder in the stores. I'mma freak about the books...the movies are eh, but once I start a book I can't put it down. And the next movie is supposed to be released around the same time as the last book - sometime early summer (if i remember correctly).
As for predictions - I figure Hermione and Ron still survive, and I'm thinking it's Snape and Harry or Snape and Voldemorte that die...either way, Snape is the one that made the unbreakable vow, and he's gotta break it...I know he's not truly on V's side. Then the question is - will good or evil win the final battle?
