You knew the comparisons were going to be inevitable. Now that we've gotten our mitts on both next-gen consoles' motion-sensing input devices, Nintendo's Wii controller and Sony's PlayStation 3 controller have to go head to head. That's just the way of the world; who are we to question these two born adversaries, destined to square off in a no-holds barred peripheral deathmatch. So, what did we think?

So, the PS3 controller has motion-sensing too?

No! The PS3 is more correctly "tilt-sensitive" (thanks junky!). It is not nearly as capable as the Wii's, and lacks many featuers. Sony added this feature to steal some of Nintendo's thunder and because they were forced to remove force-feedback from their controller due to patient infringement. They also threw away the "boomarang" prototypes that they were originally hyping. As of E3, only one PS3 game on display used this feature at all.

Nintendo's wiimote (our word, not Nintendo's name for it) was completely built around the concept. It's has motion sensitivity on all three axis, rumble, speaker, and several add-ons. All 27 Wii games on show at E3 used the motion sensitivity features!

Agreed... the ps3 controller also cant be used in a way the wii controller can. Its tilt sensitivity is not good for most games though it can be used to open up interesting minigames. Why is it not good? well simply because well its held like a normal controller you cant do anything terribly fancy with it. Though I think racing games with tilt will be a tad easier then the wiis racing tilting just based on visual controller gripping.
i dont care what the greedy pocketpicking sony tell me it is still nothing. the motion whatever thing is totally stupid nothing like the wii mote i mean comon what are they tring to domake ps3 sound like the best system < that was dumb to say> whatever>

finnaly my point, sony is trying to pass off a understudy for wii
They found out about it like a couple days before E3 and quickly made that controller but who really liked the other Boomerang
yea, the revmote dominates... it really does
Im gonna step into the fray and say I have been a fan of Sonys after they released the playstation... But I've owned every nintendo console.(except the virtual boy... I could never find it.) But the point is Sony isn't original. At E3 i only saw one game of theirs that made me want to die...MGS4. Not even FFXIII made my heart flutter. Sony has stolen technology before but, when I saw that they put (very much inferior )motion control technology in their rehashed controller I was kind of appalled. Blatantly hoping on the bandwagon that they trashed, before Nintendo dominated the show...I guess what im saying is...I see no reason to get a PS3 for any reason within the next 2 years. If MGS4 is an exclusive thats the only reason I'll buy their Blu-Ray microwave table they call a game system...Graphics aren't everything and very soon, they will lose their dominance on the marketplace on behalf of themselves.
Well put, my boy! Well put indeed!

I agree 101% MGS4 is the only reason I'd get ps3 and althought FFXIII looked good it wasnt major.

The only reason i would get a PS3 is for Assassin's Creed. It looks sweet but not sweet enough. Death to Sony!
I would only get a PS3 for FF XIII and versus XIII

Born Adversaries? Wasn't Sega Nintendo's main adversary. And Nintendo was young when it killed the hopes of Atari. Sony is a child in an Industry that was built by Nintendo.
I pee on PS3.

I would Also get Heavenly Sword that game Looked Awsome
well from the e3 video you could tell just how bad of an implimentation the tilt sensitive feature is. I mean the guy wwas flying like a drunk guy.
So they threw away the silver boomerang thiny. That's stupid. Well, it doesn't matter the wiimote kicks butt!
your kidding right? The ps3 and wii controllers dont even-----i dont know a word to use.... THE WII REMOTE [WII MOTE] IS MUCH MUCH BETTER!
I agree with you V V V

wiimote rocks
Wii mote is way better. I don't know much abt. ps3 but i think i heard that it has no rumble feauture because of tilt sensitivily? Plus it has a speaker, maybe a mic, way more movement sensivitve and its different and innovative. The ps3, is original but wireless and tilt sensitive.
WIIMOTE ROX!!!
