was just in walmart yesterday and say that there's another set of componant cables out there. I can't remember the companies name, but they were priced at $19.99 and didn't look bad, were packaged nice, and for that price...nice.
Anything like that (cables, controllers, remotes, memory cards) I like to stick to the manufacturers produced items (Nintendo produced cables, Microsoft produced controllers).

I've got the official Nintendo component cables, and am extremely happy with the picture quality. I can't say anything about other brands cables, but if your hard pressed for money or can't find the Nintendo ones...thats up to you.
I have the Nintendo brand also, but there are those who don't either don't have a credit card or would rather save a couple bucks Smile
gold plated cables work better, but you're wasting money if you buy one gold-plated set for more money than another of the same type of cable that is also gold plated.

just a thought.
Gold plated cables only work well if you have gold plated connectors. Gold plated cables are actually a scam otherwise (you get the same quality as normal good cables). I learned this when I was talking to a guitar technician guy (yeah I play guitar) and he said that it's pointless wasting money on gold cables if you don't have gold plated connectors (this was for guitar effect pedals but the same principle applies to any wires really). So unless you got one of those fancy TVs or sound systems with Gold connectors in the back, it's kinda pointless getting gold plated cables (cause they still connect through the normal metal connectors in the back of the unit).
Well, my Wal-Mart had plenty component cables too, but I didn't buy any because i'm not aloud to set up my Wii on our HD TV Sad.
what do the component cables do anyway? Make the graphics better? and are they worth buying?
The official Nintendo component cables have gold-plated connectors.

And for those of you who are not allowed to hook up your consoles to the family HDTV...that must really suck. I'm sorry to hear that.
i got the madkatz brand off newegg.com for 19.99 + 5 dollars shipping. Dont think they are gold plated, but there is only a minimal amount of difference, if any.

Snare, the component cables allow resolution up to 480p (if the game supports it). Do a google search and you will see some screenshots comparing the two. There is a noticable difference. Still not HD, but oh well.

Why not? If they are afraid of screen burn in you can show them the option of putting on the reduce burn in screen option on the Wii (normally newer TVs have this as well). Unless the reason is they are afraid of a flying Wiimote into the screen...
