Just thought some of you would be interested in knowing which games Time Magazine voted the top ten of 2006.

Top Ten Games of 2006
by Time Magazine

(1) Wii Sports (Nintendo Wii) - Select Quote - "There is no possible way to say this enough times: great graphics don't make great games."

(2) Gears of War (XBox360) - Select Quote - "I can see heat ripples rising off my gun barrel."

(3) New Super Mario Bros. (Nintendo DS) - Select Quote - "Although now every time he says "that's-a so nice!" he sounds just a tiny bit like Borat."

(4) Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (Nintendo Wii) - Select Quote - "Zelda games are like novels, you want to get lost in them."

(5) Resistance: Fall of Man (PS3) - Select Quote - "Yay for Resistance, the only PS3 title that's actually worth all that money, kind of, almost."

(6) Prey (PC/XBox360) - Select Quote - "OK, you're a Native American guy, and you're bummed because a bunch of frankly pretty gross-looking aliens just flew and down and slurped up your whole reservation, including your sweetie."

(7) Rockstar Games Presents Table Tennis (XBox360) - Select Quote - "Please, gaming gods, let them port this to the Wii."

For the select quotes I just picked a sentence that I thought stuck out or was funny.

worst top 10 list ever. Prey, table tennis, bully, lego starwars II and wii sports shouldnt even be up there

I don't mind the list, hey, it's TIME. Give 'em a break, they're not a gaming magazine.

I like the Resistance quote. But table tennis is not a top ten game, not even top 50

I have and its like Video Game crack. Its Rockstar's best game to date. Forget GTA, Table Tennis ftw!

Put it on Wii Rockstar... do it!!

But Zelda > New Super Mario Bros.

Gears of War > Wii Sports by miles.

Otherwise the list is fine.

The list fails. Hard. Those are DEFINITELY not the top 10 games of this entire year, and even if was a list for just those 10 games, the list is out of order. Wii Sports is more like an 8.

Lol, yeah I never said I agreed with the list but found it interesting. Also coming from Time it's interesting seeing an "outsiders" perspective on it instead of a video game magazine. To tell you the truth though, if you ask non-gamers or Nintendo's new gamers, Wii Sports will be #1. Case in point, my wife would pick Wii Sports as #1 as she hates all other game systems and games. Still, quite interesting really.

Back on the wii60 forums... wiisports is doing well... its made it to near the finals but then it went up against gears of war today =(. Its going to be a fight between Gears of War and Zelda in the end.

Whether you disagree about the contents of the list or not, it is good publicity for Nintendo. Alot of non-gamers (the people Nintendo is targeting) do not read any gaming magazine, but they may read Time. By seeing Wii Sports as #1, then seeing it is included w/ the Wii, some of them just may go give it a shot.

So, yeah, not the best list, but good for Nintendo. Remember, the more systems Nintendo sells the more games will be developed for it (most increase by third parties).

Exactly. cdrober gets it. Nintendo is aiming at a broder market (THE WORLD!! Muahahaha) and Time will help them reach those who don't read the gaming magazines or people who aren't game junkies.

In that case, TIME's 2007 game of the year will either be Wii Play or Wii Music

Lol, that's very possible but I'm thinking they'll give it to Super Mario Galaxy when the older crowed who are playing Wii Sports see someone they actually have heard of (everyone knows Mario!) then they may just get it for them and their kids/grandkids.

I don't know about everyone else. But I find Guitar Hero to be a complete ASS game. It might be cool if I were musically inept. But for someone who's been playing for 13 years I find it to be nothing more than an outlet for people with a bland mind and imagination to think they know what it's like to play guitar.

Guitar Hero 2 is a very awesome game, I love it.
