3rd Party , I would say Mega Man because he has more titles than any other possible 3rd party character.
1st party it could be anybody from the many big Nintendo franchises.

Well lets see, a character who has MANY titles... doesn't say if its first or third party.
Megaman is the most likely guess.
Sonic (unfortunately) has had alot of games.
Bomberman has appeared in alot.
Ridley has appeared in many titles from the Metroid series.
Honestly its too broad to tell.
The least exciting thing there is the new item, since items = teh suckage.
But otherwise nice find, I hope this rumour is true unlike almost every other rumour.
And they'll have to reveal it soon if they are going to convince me.

Saying Megaman and Samus are similar is like saying Master Cheif and Samus are similar.
And that isn't right at all.
Megaman has different elements. (i.e. Fire, Wind, Ice, etc.) That's enough to make a significantly different character.
i mean it doesnt really matter it was just MO on the matter but i would still like to have megaman in the game
