I finally was able to get my hands on a Wii and I bought an extra wiimote and nunchuck, but the second wiimote seems to be having issues. I have to resync it whenever I switch start my Wii or when I exit out of a game back to the Wii menu. Also, when all the lights are off, none of the buttons cause the lights to flash like they do on the Wiimote that came with my system; the only way to get the lights to flash is to press the sync button. Once it is synched up, it works great until I do any of the things mentioned above. I've tried 3 different brands of brand new batteries. Anybody have any ideas on this? Or do I just have a bad wiimote?
I think you may have it set to termporarily sync to your console. Permenently syncing may fix your problem. I know the manual goes over both of these, but I do not remember how off the top of my head.
I have to ran through the sync procedure where I pushed the sync button on the control and then the one on the system to get it to work each time.
On my other Wiimote, whenever I push the A button when the sytem is off, the lights on the Wiimote flash, but when I push the button on this Wiimote, nothing happens. I have to get it to wake up by pressing the sync button each time.
Perhaps the batteries are low. Try swapping them just to check.

get a refund and get a new remote
try calling nintendo and ask 4 what u should do
If resynching and new batteries don't fix it then it seems like it is indeed a busted Wiimote and you'll need to contact Nintendo to try to get a new one.
Ok, thanks, I'll give Nintendo a call and see what I should do. I live in Alaska and in my town there's only one store that carries Wiis or Wii accessories. The manager had no idea when they'll get more Wiimotes in, so I think I'm better off getting it repaired.

I sure hope so, I haevn't called yet as I'm still waking up. If not, I'll just hang onto it until they new ones in, then I'll buy some more and return this one. It's working, it is just annoying to have to resync every single time I want to use it.
I'll let you know what Nintendo says, but I did notice on their site under repairs, one of the options was "Wii Remote Only" so I'm pretty confident they will fix it.

Nintendo rocks!! I called Nintendo and they're sending me a new Wiimote and then I just have to put the bad one in the box that the new one comes in and drop it in a UPS drop box.
Lol when my nunchuck wasnt working i called nintendo and they sent me another for free and i didnt have to send the other one back. Now the nunchuck works again!!
